Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) believes that people are at the center of our work and the communities we serve. We are seeking a highly organized and knowledgeable individual to join our team as Coordinator, Training and Development. This role will report to the Director, Staff Development, People & Workplace Culture (PWC). The Coordinator, Training and Development will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing comprehensive training programs for employees across the college.

The Coordinator will design and develop training materials, including manuals, presentations, and online resources, to support the training needs of staff, supervisors, and other employees.
Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify training requirements and create targeted programs that address specific staff competencies and skills.
Conduct training sessions for employees, both in-person and online, ensuring effective delivery of content and fostering engagement and participation.
Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback surveys, and performance metrics to continuously improve training programs.
Work collaboratively with the committees related to human resources, higher education, training, community engagement, etc. to assess, develop & implement programming related to professional development across campus.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Manage and plan transformative learning solutions with compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer of learning:
  • Design and develop training materials, including manuals, presentations, and online resources, to support the training needs of staff, supervisors, and other employees.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify training requirements and create targeted programs that address specific staff competencies and skills.
  • Conduct training sessions for employees, both in-person and online, ensuring effective delivery of content and fostering engagement and participation.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback surveys, and performance metrics to continuously improve training programs.
  • Work collaboratively with the committees related to human resources, higher education, training, community engagement, etc. to assess, develop and implement programming related to professional development across campus.
  • Develop basic budgets related to area projects and initiatives. Manage program budget in keeping with college policies and procedures.
  • Serve on college-wide committees related to professional development.
  • May support College wide events with event planning and training support.
Supervise Staff:
  • Hire, train, supervise, and manage the workload of various part-time specialists, support-staff, and student interns.
  • Supervise team members within department in training, event planning and logistical support. Supervision includes room scheduling, technology requests and support, basic marketing and posting on college sites and calendars, sending out training assessments/surveys, day of event support and customer service.
  • Develop basic budgets related to area projects and initiatives.
  • Manage program budget in keeping with college compliance procedures, policies, and procedures.
  • Continue developing individual expertise in training, program planning including leadership practices, adult learning and instructional design, higher education, and other topics relevant to the position related to College Values.
  • Proactively develop and maintain dashboards regarding employee training, gap analysis, learning goals, benchmarks, and other metrics.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Education, or related field.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years direct professional work experience.
Experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously, working independently and as part of a team, teaching/coordinating/administration of learning environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience training, coaching and/or facilitating programs for adult learners.
  • Ability to create content and/or collaborate with content experts, instructional design or faculty/community members.
  • Exhibits a growth mindset; open to coaching and feedback from others.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal communication skills in individual and group settings, including public speaking.
  • The ability to collaborate and consult with subject-matter experts on the effective use of learning strategies, web-based resources, multimedia technologies, and instructional applications and systems to improve learning and training/facilitation.
  • Assists with the overall planning and logistical matters related to the training/workshops including registrations, marketing, and assessments as part of the team.
  • Demonstrated skills in the supervision of staff including hiring, onboarding, training, providing ongoing performance feedback, delegation, and building a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrates adaptability to change, including flexibility in adjusting priorities and demonstrated initiative to seek and implement process improvements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to handle sensitive matters with judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
