What are the responsibilities and job description for the Specialist 3, SLTC Operations position at Salt Lake Community College?
Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Operations and Academic Readiness at the Salt Lake Technical College (SLTC), the Specialist 3, SLTC Operations coordinates the day-to-day operations for tracking and reporting on program requirements’ compliance, satisfactory academic progress and weekly enrollments for both SLTC Competency-Based Education and Legacy students.
Supports multiple program areas at the SLTC by maintaining and creating course schedules for different training modalities, in coordination with the Scheduling Office.
In conjunction with the Chair for the SLTC Curriculum Committee, manage, track, and coordinate the flow of proposed course and program information between Program Coordinators, SLTC Associate Deans, and the Curriculum Committee.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Supports multiple program areas at the SLTC by maintaining and creating course schedules for different training modalities, in coordination with the Scheduling Office.
In conjunction with the Chair for the SLTC Curriculum Committee, manage, track, and coordinate the flow of proposed course and program information between Program Coordinators, SLTC Associate Deans, and the Curriculum Committee.
Maintains Program Information for the SLTC Catalog and Website up to date. Apprises the SLTC Student Records, Financial Aid and Advising Offices, ensuring that course information and changes are effectively communicated and maintained throughout the various systems. Receives and responds to phone and email requests and queries concerning program information, course section changes, and requirements. Reviews program requirements and posts changes in the SLTC SharePoint site.
Coordinates submission and tracking of proposed CCOs and PCOs between the Curriculum Articulations and Scheduling Office, Program Coordinators, Curriculum Committee, Associate Deans, and Faculty for SLTC. Attends Curriculum Committee meetings, while maintaining accurate records of files and proposals.
Generates weekly enrollment reports for SLTC Administrators, Coordinators and Staff, including active student reports for satisfactory academic progress for each SLTC program. Creates accounts for all new SLTC students in the CBE Tracking system and enroll each into their respective courses on a weekly basis. Assists with the creation of program course tables used to support integration with Banner, Canvas, Student Tracking and other computer systems. Coordinates with the Student Records Office to help find a resolution when upgrades, patches, fixes or enhancements are needed in one or more of the various data systems.
Tracks Pre-Enrollment compliance for programs requiring drug screenings, background checks, and drug screening through the ADB-Complio system. Maintains accurate records of students’ compliance, or lack thereof, and report results daily to program coordinators.
Generates student data reports to assist SLTC Program Areas in making informed decisions regarding student support services and success initiatives. Collaborates with entities across campus to enhance data collection. Uses data analysis and reporting tools to support communication between students, faculty and staff, including the Academic and Career Advising, Financial Aid, and Student Records Office.
Assists with the resolution of student issues related to Banner and other systems used by the Admissions, Advising, Student Records, Financial Aid, and Accounts Receivable offices. Assists with preparation of training manuals, organize, coordinate or facilitate training regarding use of the student tracking systems.

- Bachelor’s degree.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the use of the Banner student information system.
- Demonstrated experience defining specifications and data requirements for analytical reports.
Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
Four (4) years of direct, full-time, paid, work experience.
Two (2) years of direct, full-time, paid, work experience in Higher Education.

- Ability to generate student data reports to and interpret and understand student data that allows for informed decisions about student support services and targeted success interventions.
