What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Auditor position at Salt Life?

Delta Apparel is seeking a Quality Auditor to insure the customer receives the right products and quantities ordered.   

Provide written documentation of quality results to various managers.  

To understand the importance of quality, and the impact of negative quality on the departments, the company, and the consumer.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform quality audits effectively without direct supervision.
  2. Read and understand Product Technical Specifications for correct construction, garment measurements, folding packaging requirements and case pack quantity.
  3. Randomly select bundles from the sewing units. Check garments for the correct construction, stitches per inch, labels, transfers, and/or measurements.
  4. They must recognize defects such as needle cuts, skip or broken stitches, open seams, uneven seams, bad cutting, shaded fabric and other defects that would deem a garment substandard quality.
  5. Randomly select cases to audit from outgoing shipments. Move cases to auditing area. When completed, return to designated shipping area.
  6. Identify issues as outlined in the Classification Defect code list and/or audit sheet such as:
    1. Wrong style, size, color, quantity, etc.
    2. Wrong packaging, hangtags, stickers, bag, hangers, crown sizers, etc.
  7. Insure audits are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  8. Provide written documentation for all Quality Audits performed.
  9. Notify the department managers (or appropriate staff) of quality issues discovered during audits.
  10. Write up Rejection sheets for all issues found. Provide to appropriate staff for signature.

 

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  2. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  3. Perform other duties as assigned to insure all products in inventory are first quality.
  4. Be able to cross train in other Quality Auditing positions as a back-up auditor.

 

 

Job Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Must be able to recognize general defects in garments, sewing, cutting, and fabric.
  3. Must pay attention to details, be quality focused and strive to achieve company goals.
  4. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos.
  5. Good oral communications skill to explain problems clearly and ability to write a simple explanation.
  6. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  7. Must be able to read a tape measure and document measurements in fractions for /- tolerances down to 1/8” increments.
  8. Must have good eyesight for reviewing defects and identifying unacceptable color variations.
  9. Physically able to perform moderately strenuous daily activities of a technical nature in a well-lit, heated and/or air-conditioned production environment. 
    1. Activities include: 
      1. Ability to sit and/or stand for periods of 10 hours 
      2. Ability to lift 25 pounds 
      3. Manual dexterity in fingers, hand, and arm to achieve these and other similar daily task.
  10. Good attendance. Regular work schedule of four 10-hour days for a total of 40 hours per week.  Employee may occasionally be required to work an extra four to 10 hours per week; overtime compensation will be 1.5 times the normal pay for anything over 40 hours.  
  11. Must be able to use a pallet jack to move a unipak or a pallet if necessary.
