SALT PLAYHOUSE FOR PRESCHOOLERS BY MONTGOMERY SCHOOL
CLASSROOM TEACHER POSITION

SALT Playhouse for Preschoolers by Montgomery School, a performing arts based preschool program located on Montgomery School’s campus in Chester Springs, PA, is seeking a part-time classroom teacher for the 2022-23 school year. This is a purpose- filled job opportunity for someone looking to make a great impact on the lives of children in a beautifully, positive environment. Candidates for this position should be energetic team players, ambitious, hardworking, and effective at connecting and communicating with students, faculty, and the community. The position has many functions. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Planning, implementing, instructing, and revising initial core curriculum for the following subjects, as well as supporting the cross-curricular approach that infuses the performing arts: o Social and Emotional Expression o Speaking and Listening o Literature/Literacy/Language o Dramatic/Imaginative Play
• Providing a loving, nurturing, and safe school environment for both students and parents
• Developing a trusting and loving relationship with class parents by providing consistent, ongoing communication and a warm personality
• Establishing effective classroom management routines based on the Playhouse’s mission of love and kindness so as to maintain order among the students for whom they are responsible

Other skills and qualities necessary for this position are:

• Possesses solid teaching skills, including knowledge/experience in the following areas: o student differentiation o backward curriculum design o social and emotional development

• A love of teaching children and willingness to embrace an unconventional preschool curriculum model

• Flexibility, fun energy, dynamic enthusiasm, and unafraid to “go big” in the classroom (i.e. puppetry, character voices, using songs and rhymes to reinforce academic concepts, etc.)

• Classroom or other related teaching experience in the early childhood setting

• Bachelor’s degree

• Experience with the theatrical performing arts is desired but not required
