Summary

Manages Substation Design Project Management department and support staff in engineering, design, estimating, procurement, and construction support activities for existing and planned electric system facilities. Provides guidance for engineering, design, and drafting support of the electric system. Responsible for ensuring employees meet expectations, support quality concepts, project mission statements, and safety expectations inherent to SRP's business philosophies during performance of job related functions.

What You'll Do

  • Manages substation design major project's engineering and support staff.
  • Enhances employee skills and performance through development, counseling, goal setting, training, performance planning, and salary administration.
  • Directs and manages the preparation, review, and approval of project designs, with contribution associated with development of material, equipment, and construction specifications.
  • Manages and supports project design process that includes specification and RFP development, review of bid proposals, and award recommendations.
  • Oversees and administers engineering support associated with vendor transmittals, designs reviews, and change requests for equipment procurement, materials, and construction.
  • Ensures quality preparation of reports, documents, vendor instructions, and technical support requests associated with major projects.
  • Manages and ensures project compliance with quality assurance and quality control programs associated with major projects.
  • Manages administration of contract cash flows, budgets, and oversees the review and approval of invoices.

What It Takes To Succeed

  • PE preferred
  • Occasional travel for specialized training and related business meetings. Periodic contact with external customers, contractors and vendors. Have knowledge of and ability to work effectively with various organizational groups within SRP. Knowledge of and the ability to use computer design tools/software.
  • Preferred experience: Experience with managing major projects, project management responsibilities, and system knowledge of transmission and distribution substations.

Experience

Minimum of 7 years cumulative and progressive professional experience

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.


Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
