Our host or hostess is responsible for greeting customers at a restaurant with a smile, welcoming them into the establishment, seating them, and providing them with a menu. They are the organizer, the herder, and the first and last impression of the restaurant.
Keeping the restaurant orderly, making sure the customers are content, and keeping track of what's going on at each table are just some of the ways a host or hostess helps to keep a restaurant and its guests happy.
To be a good host or hostess, be welcoming and accommodating to restaurant patrons. Make sure guests are comfortable while waiting for a table or a take-out order. Keep them informed of wait times for being seated or when their food should be ready. Dress differently from the wait staff; you want to stand out a bit so guests recognize you as the hostess and know to ask you for assistance if needed. An excellent host or hostess is also attentive to what’s happening in each section of the restaurant, from the tables to the bar to the kitchen, to provide accurate wait time estimates to guests and not overload the staff.

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
