Sampson County Health Department is seeking a dedicated Entry-Level Fiscal Technician to join our team. You'll play a vital role in ensuring the financial health of our department, supporting patients and promoting access to quality healthcare.

• Maintain records : Handle patient accounts receivable and ensure accurate billing.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK : This position is assigned to the Fiscal Unit of the Sampson County Health Department. This unit is responsible for all fiscal activities with the agency to include budget, accounts payable, patient accounts receivable, eligibility determination for clients, encounter recording, internal audits and other various fiscal functions .

The primary purpose of this position is to interview clients to determine financial eligibility and payer source; determine fees for services provided based on eligibility and collect payment;

discuss payment plan in accordance with all local, state and federal guidelines and generally accepted accounting principles.

This position is also responsible for accounts receivable maintenance for client accounts with third party insurance or Medicare payer source.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES : Knowledge, skills and abilities requirements are reading and ability to perform basic calculations, filing, alphabetically and chronologically, communication skills, typing, data entry, organizatio n skills, confidentiality, and ability to work within an Excel and Word Document.

Visual attention, mental concentration and attention to detail are important abilities needed for this position .

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : High School Diploma or GED and at least two years of office assistant / secretarial experience ;
