INSIDE THIS BUSINESS GROUP:

The Samsung Device Lab (SDL) develops simulation solutions for advanced semiconductor manufacturing technology requirements. The Device Lab was initiated in January 2011 and is based in Silicon Valley. The lab focuses on the development of Technology Computer Aided Design (TCAD) models and simulation software for deploying advanced manufacturing processes for semiconductor devices and materials. SDL supports logic, memory and LED technology development, as well as the development of compact models for advanced logic and memory technology.

In addition, the teams of top engineering talent at the lab conduct pioneering TCAD-based device research on extremely low-power applications.

OVERVIEW & IMPACT:

The candidate will be a key member of the process modeling group at Device Lab, working on exciting projects focused on process related issues (epitaxial growth, etching, oxidation, nitridation, and phase changes) in the development of advanced logic and memory devices.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop new first principles-based simulation methodologies for dynamics of chemical reactions relevant to advanced logic and memory devices fabrication processes.
  • Implement the developed methodologies in Samsung in-house simulator using C
  • Prepare usage examples and user manual
  • Provide physics based solutions for new technology development
  • Work as part of a global team focused on quality, reliability and performance

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • MS or Ph.D. degree in physics, chemistry, material science, chemical engineering, or related fields
  • Strong skills and experience in programming (e.g., C )
  • Experience in ab initio molecular dynamics method and/or Kinetic Monte Carlo method development demonstrated in peer-reviewed papers.
  • Deep understanding in chemical reactions at atomic level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player, as part of a globally distributed team
  • Good oral and written skills for communication and documentation

PREFERED SKILLS

  • Experience on process modeling of semiconductor devices
  • Experience on rare event system simulations.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor process and experience on process simulations (TCAD simulation)
  • Knowledge on multi-scale process modeling flow (atomistic (DFT, KMC, MD) to continuum (FEM, FVM))
