Job Location:    Wilsey Center - San Francisco, CA
Position Type:    Full Time
Salary Range:    $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 Salary/year

Description

PURPOSE: Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving and in partnership with the Development team, support the growth and development of San Francisco Operas broad-base donor program focused on donors giving up to $2,999 annually and connect the broad-base donor program to the mid-level ($3,000-$24,999) and major gifts ($25,000 ) programs through direct response campaigns and personalized stewardship.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Support San Francisco Operas broad-base donor giving program including the acquisition, growth, and retention of individual donors giving up to $2,999 annually.
  • Support all aspects of Annual Giving including direct mail, email solicitations, digital strategies, and telefunding.
  • Qualify donors with major giving potential. Work in coordination with the Director of Individual and Leadership Giving and the giving officer team to provide meaningful relationship building action steps that lead to increased retention rates and giving amounts.
  • Oversee a selection of targeted donor relationships.
  • Write content and edit copy for emails, the website, direct mail, and Development related ads as needed.
  • Create emails and track campaign progress using Prospect 2.
  • Collaborate with a team of colleagues to maximize search engine optimization and social media fundraising opportunities.
  • Coordinate fundraising messaging and solicitations as part of the annual subscription ticket campaign in partnership with the Marketing Department.
  • Attend occasional weekend and evening opera events as needed.
  • Reports on Annual Giving fundraising campaign and overall results using Tessitura.
  • Provide stewardship for donors giving below $2,999.

 

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage successful and productive relationships with external direct response vendors, ensuring that projects are completed on time and to budget.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date Tessitura records of donor contacts and ongoing communications with current and potential donors.
  • Tracks and reconciles Annual Giving invoices and expenses.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


EDUCATION:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university (preferred) or equivalent work experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressive customer service or fundraising experience with proven success in advancing customer relationships.

PREREQUISITE SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

Fundraising and Relationship-Building:

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of and experience with the principles and practices of fundraising including direct marketing and its various channels and the giving cycle and their connections with higher level donor programs.
  • Experience with broad-base annual giving programs: direct mail, telefunding, email, and digital campaigns including social media.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and budgeting principles.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with a wide range of personalities, internally and externally.

Knowledge of Bay Area Performing Arts:

  • Knowledge of performing arts and/or the operatic art form preferred.
  • Ability to attend evening and weekend Opera events in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Technical Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database navigation.
  • Tessitura experience preferred.
  • Proven success with independently setting priorities, coordinating multiple projects simultaneously, and meeting firm deadlines.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and in written; ability to convey complicated information in a clear, succinct, and respectful manner.
