What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Ceramics Instructor position at San Francisco University High School?
Description
At San Francisco University High School, we believe that the deepest learning requires collaboration among people who embody a diversity of backgrounds, beliefs, experiences, and perspectives. Building and sustaining a community composed of a wide range of social and cultural identities requires that all members have the resources they need to thrive. To this end, we must further our self- knowledge, our ability to communicate effectively across individual differences, and our capacity to cultivate an anti-racist, anti-oppressive school culture mindful of systemic barriers to equity. We do this work on a personal, professional, and an institutional level, recognizing that our community is part of a larger and more complex world.
San Francisco University High School wishes to announce an opening for a Part-Time Ceramics Instructor in our Visual Arts program. The position consists of teaching two sections of Ceramics I: our introductory hand-building course, in the Fall; and two sections of Ceramics II: our intermediate sculpting course with supplemental teaching on the pottery wheel, in the Spring. Students entering in level I should be able to thrive with no prior experience.
Preferred candidates should have experience in teaching, with a graduate or bachelor degree in studio art, and experience using ceramic studio equipment and maintaining consistent kiln firing schedules. Candidates should have proficiency with hand-building and pottery, with additional experience in other 2-D and 3-D mediums encouraged.
