Maintenance Worker

POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: Maintenance
REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible to
¨ Perform a variety of work in the custodial and general maintenance of the school plant and related facilities.
¨ Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of:
1. Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in custodial and routine maintenance.
2. Standards of cleanliness for custodial maintenance.

Ability to:
1. Perform custodial and routine maintenance according to established procedures and standards. a. Sweep, scrub, mop, wax, and polish floors; wash windows, counters, and walls; vacuum rugs and carpets; dust and polish furniture and woodwork. b. Clean, scrub, and disinfect restrooms; polish metalwork, clean sinks, mirrors, and other restroom fixtures; maintain various supplies including paper towels, soap, toilet paper, and feminine products. c. Empty and clean waste receptacles; pick up paper; pick up trash containers and empty into large bins. d. Check doors, windows, and assigned area for vandalism; report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards to the Facilities Manager by preparing a Work Order.

2. Maintain tools and equipment in clean working order.
3. Perform a variety of minor maintenance on buildings and equipment.
4. Observe and report the need for maintenance and repair.
5. Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
6. Perform heavy manual labor.
7. Understand and carry out verbal and written directives
8. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Environment: Indoor and outdoor, in all weather conditions
Physical abilities: Ability to sweep, scrub, mop, wax, and polish floors; wash windows, counters, and walls; vacuum, clean furniture, and facilities; transport supplies with the assistance of a cart or dolly; bend, stoop, and climb steps and ladders as required

Hazards: Exposure to weather, some hazardous chemicals, heavy physical labor

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour
