What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President of Student Services position at Sandhills Community College?
The Vice President of Student Services is responsible for operation, oversight, and advancement of the Division of Student Services comprised of recruitment, onboarding, enrollment management, purpose center, transfer center, student advocacy, disability services, student records, high school initiatives, student life, financial aid, veteran services, scholarships, NC Gear Up, personal counseling, and student conduct. This role facilitates the integration of student support services and strategic enrollment management to support the college’s mission and goals. The Vice President also serves as part of the college’s senior leadership team and is expected to represent the college on campus and in the community with strategic initiatives.
- Advise the President on matters related to Student Services.
- Oversee and direct, as necessary, the Dean of Student Services, the directors, and operations of recruitment, onboarding, enrollment management, purpose center, transfer center, student advocacy, disability services, student records, high school initiatives, student life, financial aid, veteran services, scholarships, NC Gear Up, personal counseling, and student conduct.
- Assist in the development of the College's Strategic Plan of Operations.
- Establish and maintain positive community relations that contribute to the college’s ability to fulfill its mission.
- Develop and implement a culturally and academically diverse high school and community recruitment plan.
- Oversee and direct the college’s Student Code of Conduct.
- In collaboration with the Student Services team members, prepare appropriate reports, analyze and evaluate enrollment and retention data, and project student enrollment and retention figures to be used in strategic planning and decision-making.
- Assist in the development of the college’s budget. In collaboration with the Business Office, plan and build budgets for oversight areas.
- Represent Student Services on internal administrative and policy-making college committees.
- Oversee operation, implementation, and maintenance of student information systems, including Colleague and Self Service.
- Advise and consult with senior administration to ensure collaborative and efficient practices are in place to serve students, faculty, and staff while fulfilling the mission of the college.
- Oversee the development or revision of policies, procedures, and operational activities related to all facets of Student Services.
- Provide professional development opportunities to Student Services staff.
- Conduct employee performance evaluations and program reviews for assigned areas.
- Ensure the college’s awareness and compliance with FERPA regulations.
- Oversee the college’s annual curriculum graduation ceremony.
- Master’s Degree in higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, or another relevant field.
- At least five years of progressive leadership experience in student affairs administration, enrollment management, or similar field preferably in a community college or similar educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in student affairs, including Title IX, ADA, and FERPA.
- Commitment to promoting cultural awareness and access in all aspects of student affairs, programming, and services.

Salary : $100,000 - $125,000
