This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
This job posting is at the Member level. If a Senior or Principal level employee applies and is selected, they will be moved into the Member level and their salary will be adjusted if necessary.
Employees must remain in their current position for one year before applying for a new position, with the exception of student interns. Application of this requirement will not supersede collective bargaining agreements. Posting Duration

What Your Job Will Be Like
The Sandia Mission Services Talent Acquisition Team (MSTAT) is seeking Business Management Professionals. This team is active in identifying candidates with relevant academic and work experience in an effort to meet our staffing needs and objectives for either current or near-term positions.
Selected applicants will be interviewed by a subcommittee of managers and staff members. Subsequently, successful applicants will be provided to managers for placement in positions across the Laboratory. There may be virtual or telecommuting opportunities. There also may be positions that do require reporting onsite due to the nature of the work.
Candidates are expected to team with others to support Sandia's mission by adding value, improving operations, offering innovative solutions and appropriately managing risk for the corporation.
The Business Management Professional (BMP) plays a key role in supporting a variety of national security projects and programs at the lab by using their knowledge and expertise in business, strategy, finance, and infrastructure operations to establish and improve a continuum of business processes.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Provide decision support to leadership on a broad range of business areas including financial planning, resource management, trends and projections, workforce acquisition planning, and business processes.
- Anticipate, identify, research, and communicate key business performance issues to enable successful management of operational and programmatic deliverables for leadership.
- Work collaboratively and/or lead cross-functional teams to facilitate and drive integrated, multi-disciplinary solutions to complex operational problems and/or align with mission/strategic objectives.
- Design, develop, and facilitate strategic planning and process improvements. Use qualitative and quantitative data to develop strategies, goals and objectives, and detailed plans for long-range implementation.
- Manage and assume responsibility for financial planning and analysis for program or business unit including special-purpose analysis and reports to inform decisions on a broad range of business issues such as resource management plans, organizational structure, make-buy alternatives, and cost savings options.
- Assist with sponsor/customer interactions, facilitating team communications and meetings, tracking project management deliverables and presenting project controls status.
Qualifications We Require
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Equivalent experience in lieu of degree must be directly related experience that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
- Higher-level degree (MS, PhD) in relevant discipline may also be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a required US DOE L-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire
- Previous experience with financial tools and systems.
- Experience providing decision support to leadership on a broad range of business areas including financial planning, resource management, trends and projections, workforce acquisition planning, and business processes.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams to develop integrated business solutions to complex problems.
- Experience working with Senior Management.
- Knowledge and experience in project administration.
- Experience and/or familiarity with a variety of project management techniques, traditional and agile.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
