Service Support Technician
Newtrax has joined Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions as a Standalone Business Unit. Newtrax believes the future of mining is underground, not only because minerals close to the surface are increasingly rare, but because underground mines have a significantly lower environmental footprint.
To accelerate the transition to a future where 100% of mining is underground, Newtrax eliminates the current digital divide between surface mines and underground mines. To achieve this goal, Newtrax integrates the latest Internet-of-Things and Artificial Intelligence technologies to monitor and provide insights on underground operations, including people, machines and the environment.
Key performance areas
As a Service Support Technician, you will support and train to become a qualified technician working with IoT and RF systems. You will have exposure to mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, diesel and electrical equipment, components, IoT Vehicle Telemetry integration and systems. Your duties will also include machine audits, machine commissioning, facilitating internal and external training, and warranty investigation. This position will be permanently located in Montana – Stillwater Complex and will touch not only Sandvik, but all Heavy and Light Duty Vehicles encountered in underground mining.
Additionally, you will:
    Work from verbal instructions but may receive written maintenance instructions for routine workshop activities.
    Assemble and transport materials handling equipment.
    Use a variety of simple trade tools.
    Assist with maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and parts.
    Are assigned to a specific trade area (e.g., mechanical) and will carry out some routine aspects of the trade activity, according to training requirements.
    Learn how to apply basic knowledge of parts of the service technician area, such as mechanics/ materials.
    Develop expertise and knowledge to progress within Newtrax to complete full installations of hardware.
Location is fixed at the Stillwater Complex near Billings Montana.
Your profile
    0-2 Years Sandvik Equipment experience. Limited knowledge and skills of Sandvik Equipment and less than 2 years industry experience.
    High school diploma or technical training or technical college. Can be in training for a trade certification or service with equipment experience.
    Driver’s license required
    First Aid Level 1 experience preferred.
