Experience, Education, and Personal Qualities
Must be able to lift and carry a 40-pound child on a consistent basis throughout the workday to at least waist high but often higher.
· Must have a warm and friendly personality and be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others.
· Must be teachable.
· Must join IdahoSTARS and complete ICCP trainings with in the first 90 days of employment according to the law.
· Must physically and mentally be able to perform the job of a teacher of young children.
· Must be on time and reliable.
Responsibilities
· Create a pleasant,inviting classroom atmosphere in which children feel comfortable and secure.
· Provide experiences which promote individual self-expression in conversation, imaginative play, and creativity.
· Ensure that families receive adequate information about their child’s experiences at the Center through daily contact and notes.
· Be respectful of all family dynamics and cultures.
· Complete all classroom paperwork: for example:
· record diaper changes,
· medication forms,
· lesson plans,
· mark the roll, mark meal counts immediately after serving children
· fill in points and count sheets,
· collect assessment information,
· update family information as necessary (phone numbers, allergies, copy immunization records,etc.),
· fill out accident reports as needed.
· Works to build the Sandy’s childcare culture by exhibiting the highest level of positive professionalism with every action and communication, utilizing appropriate language and tone.
· Adheres to the dress code, being an example of proper protocol to all co-workers, families and visitors.
· Assists and supervises children during all activities.
· Assists and counsels children when social, academic, or adjustment problems arise.
· Prepares and implements:
· classroom lesson plans,
· follows program and schedule, ensuring multiple back-up plans,
· prepares instructional aids/materials for classroom activities.
· Physically arranges the classroom into well-defined learning centers, minimizing opportunities for accidents or unsafe conditions.
· Assists children with meal times and clean-up.
· Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment are in good working condition and are used and maintained properly.
· Communicates appropriate information to parents.
· Maintain portfolios of each child in your class to be used during Parent- teacher conferences.
· Provides personal introduction to new families and to new team members,
· Ensure acknowledgement of the child and parent at drop off and pick up.
· Accepts temporary work assignments in the event regularly scheduled personnel is not available.
· Assists with planning and implementing Center events.
· Communicates appropriately with potential new customers.
· Always assists in maintaining ratios according to the law; may need to stay late, come in early,or be called in.
