Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am-5:00pm and every other Saturday 8:30am-12:30pm (Hours vary based on branch staffing needs). 

 

About The Job:

Sandy Spring Bank is actively hiring an Assistant Branch Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operational and service functions in a retail branch office.  Assists in developing new retail and commercial client relationships and expanding existing relationships utilizing professional sales techniques to prospect, identify, and meet client needs and by providing high quality service. Coaches branch staff to achieve referral goals, production goals, to meet branch profit plan, and to support a positive team atmosphere.  Works with key representatives from all areas of the company to send and accept referrals. Cross sells products and services; refers clients to sales personnel in other business lines.  Accepts and processes retail and small business loan applications.  Ensures compliance at all times for audit, compliance and security issues.  Communicates and supports the mission of the company.  Completes other duties as assigned.

 

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Oversees daily operations of a retail branch office.  Ensures procedures are followed, especially as they pertain to audit, security and compliance to protect the staff, company assets, and clients from harm or loss.  Ensures audit scores are at acceptable levels.  Maintains optimal branch performance in service, quality, accuracy, efficiency, and risk management.  Reviews and authorizes, as appropriate, transactions or decisions requiring a higher level of authority for approval or signature within the branch.
  • Coordinates with Branch Manager, branch staff and other business lines to achieve growth objectives.  Utilizes standard sales techniques to generate and expand business.
  • Has a complete understanding of all products sold in the retail branch office and has familiarity with products sold by other business lines.  Maintains knowledge of credit standards and loan processing procedures for retail and small business loans.
  • Assists clients promptly and efficiently.  Following established procedures, sells, services, and maintains all types of accounts.  Exhibits quality behaviors that promote client trust.  Responds to complaints or concerns responsibly and provides support to staff in dealing with difficult situations. 
  • Coordinates and conducts weekly branch meetings to promote ideas for meeting/exceeding business plan goals and to review operations, sales, and service topics.  Suggests changes in products, policies, and procedures that would enhance client satisfaction, revenue, security, or operational efficiency.
  • Supervises and coaches assigned branch staff to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities to maximize performance potential to support the company’s processes.  Provides regular feedback to staff on progress.  Documents performance and completes performance review forms in a timely manner.
  • Ensures service quality meets all required standards.  Serves as a role model.  Coaches staff on adhering to service standards.  Provides guidance to staff on unusual situations to minimize losses.  Resolves escalated client concerns.
  • Represents Sandy Spring Bank to the client and community in a professional, courteous manner at all times.  Organizes or participates in company sponsored community events.

    Required Skills

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • If selected and hired for the position, continued employment will be contingent upon the successful completion of the required Training and Assessment.
  • Position requires a minimum of 2 years retail sales banking experience, previous supervisory experience preferred.  Strong knowledge of banking products and related laws and regulations is required.  Knowledge of standard audit and security procedures required.  Ability to effectively lead, coach and motivate others is desired.
  • Intermediate personal computer skills are required using standard windows-based software.  Intermediate knowledge of the Metavante Banking System is also required through experience or on-the-job training. 
  • Position requires regular internal and external contact to carry out organizational objectives.  Most often deals with matters requiring persuasion and approval.  Ability to make productive business development calls is needed.  Contacts involve a variety of levels and require advanced interpersonal skills to effectively deal with all types of people.
  • Must have excellent ability speak, read and write English to effectively and professionally express ideas, in both written and oral form.  Ability to prepare business correspondence, prepare and summarize complex reports, write procedures, interpret complicated policies is also necessary.  Strong communication skills are needed to effectively supervise and guide others.
  • Advanced problem solving skills are required.  Problems are technically or administratively complex and require the collection, interpretation, and analysis of date from diverse sources.
  • SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area.  Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.

     

    Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.

     

    Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.
