Position Overview:

Molecular and/or cellular biologist with interest in advancing the field of high-plex spatial transcriptome functional genomics applied to the molecular dissection of disease and disease therapeutics.  The role will be within the Translational Sciences Single Cell and Functional Genomics group focused on a diverse therapeutic portfolio within rare disease, neurobiology, gene therapy, oncology and immunology. The Translational Sciences Group in Sanofi strives to generate scientific knowledge that translates into transformative therapies for patients with unmet medical needs.  Translational Sciences is building a world-class high-content imaging and spatial profiling team that is passionate to contribute to the discovery and development of novel therapeutics for patients.  The Translational Sciences group is seeking highly motivated genomics scientists to join the multidisciplinary team to apply spatial transcriptome technologies to multiple disease areas.  As a result, the successful candidate would contribute to various drug discovery and development projects for a number of indications of interest to Sanofi.  The successful candidate will play a key role in sustaining and expanding the capabilities of our spatial technology platform, with a deep understanding of existing and new technologies to drive and impact the emerging field of high-plex spatial biology.  A key contributor to multidisciplinary teams developing spatial biology workflows and analytics, with end-to-end systems integration.  You will plan, initiate, and execute scientific research and define development strategies in collaboration with the research staff and the ability to analyze complex datasets, and strong oral and written communication skills.  The successful candidate will have the training, knowledge and expertise in the application of advanced approaches on a diverse set of biological samples to generate datasets to develop actionable hypotheses.  The successful candidate would have the ability to learn and acquire new techniques and methodologies.  The selected candidate is expected to contribute to developing analytical strategies for the identification of novel therapeutic targets, the discovery of predictive biomarkers for patients’ stratification, and analysis of molecular data to define disease and therapeutic molecular mechanisms.  This exciting role will afford talented molecular biology or genomics scientists the opportunity to translate their data-generation and analytical abilities into novel actionable hypotheses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Member of multidisciplinary team to apply high-plex spatial functional genomics platforms and technologies to a variety of disease and therapeutic tissue types.

  • Nanostring GeoMx DSP/NGS platform proficiency, NGS knowledge and wet-bench skill to sustain and expand GeoMx assays with NGS Readout.

  • Provide molecular histology and imaging laboratory expertise.

  • Produce, QC, and interpret high-plex data sets.

  • Communicate and collaborate with therapeutic collaborators.

  • Collaborate with other groups in Translational Sciences and Therapeutic Area partners and help the group champion projects from discovery to early clinical development.

  • Prepare publications, research and clinical/regulatory documentation in accordance with Sanofi quality standards.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of relevant research experience OR Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant research experience OR a PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, or genomics.

  • Track record of independent research and development in genomics (e.g. scRNA-seq), imaging techniques, and/or spatial technologies.

  • Ability to analyze large complex, spatial genomics data sets with a mind toward multi-omic integrative analysis.

  • Experience with automated molecular histology and imaging platforms, multiplex immunohistochemistry and/or in situ hybridization assays with the ability to largely work independently in the lab.

  • Whole slide image capture across multiple scanning platforms, and image analysis using HALO and/or Visiopharm platforms, with the ability to interpret data to define results and next steps.

  • Team player able to collaborate with multiple project teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Machine learning/AI segmentation of whole tissues.

  • Digital pathology, image and data management.

  • Understanding of tissue pathology.

  • Protein/nucleic single and multiplex assay optimization/validation.

  • Experience in NGS data processing and proficiency in data analysis in R and/or python.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills.

  • Established publication record.
