Under general supervision of the Public Safety IT Supervisor, supports designated County staff by overseeing the configuration, implementation, maintenance, and documentation of IT related hardware and software. Coordinates with all levels of County staff to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve IT-related issues and to propose and implement new products. Works independently to determine work priorities, assess and solve problems, and troubleshoot and resolve critical system downtime.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Prepares specifications for new hardware and software; sets up, installs, configures and tests hardware and software; and answers, prioritizes, and completes requests from users. Troubleshoots and conducts general maintenance of all desktops, laptops, tablets, and computer related equipment and software; adheres to organizational standards and procedures for documenting and tracking equipment serial numbers and licenses.Assists in managing servers in the Public Safety environment, ensuring continual operation and availability. Configures and manages systems operational applications such as antivirus applications, security applications, email applications and backup software applications; installs and configures various operating systems, programming languages and hardware.Assists with the scheduled releases of software updates and enhancements and patch management releases; monitors system logs and activity on servers and devices. Troubleshoots problems with networks, web services, mail services and other aspects of an integrated environment; develops, maintains, tests and monitors procedures for server backups; monitors, plans, and coordinates the distribution of client/server software and service packs; performs on-site and remote technical support.May serve as a liaison between departmental end-users, technical analysts, consultants and other governmental organizations in the analysis, design, configuration, testing, and maintenance of CAD and Call Handler (VESTA) systems to ensure optimal operation performance.Makes recommendations on new system application solutions to purchase; works with various vendors for procurement; assists in the organization, inventory and procured maintenance of hardware and software resources. Maintains administrative accounts for vendors and services.Installs upgrades and maintains business applications.Generates reports as needed.Creates and maintains effective technical documentation; assists with developing system policies. Supports LANs, WANs, Network segments, Internet and Intranet Systems.May mentor other members in the IT Division. Diagnoses and resolves complex issues; creates work orders and resolves.Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of the current network and data communication structure to effectively install and troubleshoot peripherals.Supports and maintains servers, MDTs, software, network appliances, PCs and associated peripherals, and applications within Santa Fe County Public Safety environment.Participates in new project implementations, system upgrades, and technology migrations. Knowledge / Skills : Knowledge of microcomputer systems hardware, software, networks, and operating systems; of the functions, uses and limitations of computers and peripheral equipment; of software and hardware capabilities and limitations; of trouble shooting and of diagnostic applications in order to perform independent analysis and resolution of problems.Ability to maintain familiarity of emerging technology and trends that will impact microcomputer systems at the County. Ability to act in an independent and conscientious manner using sound judgment; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to maintain confidentiality; and to establish effective working relationships with coworkers and the public.Skilled in supporting Windows Devices, Active Directory, Windows Server, Jail Management Systems, ArcGIS, and ESRI.Skilled in supporting Virtual Private Networks (VPN) and VMWare server(s).Skilled in installing, supporting, and troubleshooting networks.Skilled in defining, testing, implementing, and training users around security controls. Skilled in supporting clients in person, over the phone, and virtually.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands or arms; and talk or hear. Clarity of vision at short distance is required. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. May be subject to exposure to CRTs and VDTs. Conditions of Employment: Selected candidate must submit to and pass a County paid pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening. Additionally, selected candidate must submit to and pass a county paid criminal background screening. Selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Class D Driver’s License as incumbent shall be appointed to drive a County vehicle during the performance of his/her duties.
