The Sidewalk Crew Driver at SV Enterprises is responsible for:
- Dressing appropriately for long lengths of time in the outdoor winter weather
- Clearing in an appropriate manner, assigned areas of snow/ice accumulation with assigned equipment
- Appropriately and effectively apply deicing chemicals to all assigned areas
- Safely commuting to secondary properties/areas down main roads before, during and after snow and ice events with assigned crew
- Follow all rules of the road, including but not limited to weight limits, height limits, etc. during all travel between sites and SV.
- Track time and materials used at each property/site and report efficiently
- Perform pre/post trip inspection of all equipment to ensure safe and good working order.
- Ensuring that all equipment and materials needed for the shift are gathered and available for the shift
- Maintaining an efficient team of individuals with high productivity levels
- Report to supervisor immediately any equipment issues found
- Work efficiently and effectively with other crews to ensure complete clearing of the site and proper chemical treatments
- Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications:
To perform the role of a Sidewalk Crew Driver successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Consistent attendance is a job requirement.
- Experience preferred in applicable relevance.
- Valid Illinois Driver License required
- Flexible start and end times for work hours
- Weekends, Holidays, Late Nights and Long Hours are to be expected
- Ability to work as a team with other crews including chem trucks, operators and walk crews
- Ability to safely commute from site to site with potential of driving other crew members in the vehicle.
- A Personal Cell Phone is REQUIRED for this position
The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of the Sidewalk Crew Driver job.
- While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to stand/walk for prolonged periods of time, repetitive motions constantly, ability to maintain alertness and attentiveness for long hours while working varying hours, ability to maintain concentration/focus (ability to interpret the work environment and make decisions on predetermined operating policies and procedures), ability to work in small or tight spaces, ability to taste and smell.
- Ability to talk, hear audible alarms, voice commands with background noise, use hands and fingers to grip, pinch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, reach, pull, push with hands and arms above and below hands, ability to work in an environment subject to vibrations. Ability to push and shovel snow.
- The individual is occasionally required to climb ladders, lift up to 50 pounds with control, push up to 50 pounds with control, ability to work in an environment with flashing lights including strobe lamps, have the ability to work in confined spaces
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include: the ability to have close vision with or without corrective lens (clear vision at 20 inches or less), have distance vision with or without corrective lens (clear vision at 20 feet or more), have color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), have peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), have depth perception (vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), have the ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus while in changing light conditions e.g. sunshine to indoor or dark conditions), ability to work in varied light conditions including low or diminished lighting.
- Physical lifting and carrying of gasoline, grease and/or other chemicals in commercial containers is required.

- While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly exposed to work in wet conditions, exposed to work in outdoor winter weather conditions to include extreme cold, snowy weather.
- The individual is frequently exposed to working with oils, fuels and other chemicals.
- The individual is frequently exposed to working around loud noise (noise when raised conversations is needed)
