As part of Global Finance, Global Facility Management (GFM) is SAP's Facility -infrastructure provider and is responsible for running SAP’s buildings and real estate including operations of state of the art data center infrastructure (cooling, power, automation, monitoring, fire protection) around the globe. Within GFM, the Data Center Services (DCS) unit acts in a shared services mode for internal IT and business customers across all SAP Board Areas, providing Data Center Facilities to SAP systems for a wide range of development, training, demo and business purposes.
The Data Center Service Specialist will work within SAP’s Data Center Services team in the US
The responsibilities for this position may include support, monitoring, administration and coordination of externals to do the same on some or all of the following systems and infrastructures:
- Electrical & HVAC infrastructure of a state-of-the-art Data Center
- Monitoring systems Building Automation Tools and EPMS Tools
- Security, Fire Control and Water leak detection systems
- Physical data center floor layout (design, implementation and ongoing support)
- Data wiring networks support to IT (fiber &cable) as far as GFM is affected
- Custom equipment rack and hot/cold containment planning and operations
The responsibilities for this position also includes:
- Lead the implementation of the building automation systems for 7x24 real time notification
- Technical lead for system protocols such as ModBus and BacNet, BacNet/IP, ModbusRTU.
- Computer Operating Systems – Windows Server 2012, thorough understanding of virtualized systems.
- Thorough understanding of Kerberos login standards and key tab file generation for secure BMS environments
- Lead the implementation of the building emergency power management system (EPMS) for 7X24 real time notification
- Support other GRF sites in North America with BMS, EPMS as needed to simplify and enhance 7x24 operations
- Lead the integration of BMS, EPMS, Security and Fire Systems for single point situational awareness
- Coordination of infrastructure maintenance activities with external partners and suppliers
- On-call duty for all Data Center infrastructure issues for the assigned Data Centers
- Local interface to all external vendors providing On-demand Data Center services
- Asset Management for GFM assets (electronic inventory management)
- Monitor problem ticket queue and respond to Service Requests in GFM area
- Support operations at secondary data centers
- Work in a team with the global GFM expert team to ensure roll out and maintaining of global standards and processes
- Maintain and update various internal tools for reporting and monitoring

Job Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of HVAC and mechanical infrastructure needed in a DC and Advanced knowledge of electrical systems for DCs (UPS, PDUs, Generators, Static Transfer Switches, Automatic Transfer Switches, electric and pneumatic actuators)
- Advanced knowledge of infrastructure monitoring systems and controls, Tridium, WebCtrl, Alerton
- Advanced knowledge of Fire detection and suppression systems
- Advanced knowledge of electrical/mechanical principles
- Advanced knowledge of Facilities Management
- Ability to organize work and complete tasks independently and remote
- Ability to schedule and facilitate multi-team conference calls and meetings also in international context
- Anility to record meeting minutes and issue timely status reports
- Ability to explain the infrastructure also to customers or/and business people
- Completed COVID vaccination protocols consistent with existing SAP policies

Specific Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
- Full range of motion to reach inside computer and infrastructure cabinets and work under raised floor
- Ability to handle common tools (screwdriver, wrench, etc)
- Ability to travel by air to global SAP locations, including Germany (less than 5% travel)
- Ability to work on ladders
- Ability to climb vertical manways
- Ability to work at heights and on rooftops
- Ability to work at times in stressful situations with complex systems
- BA/BS degree in Industrial control, mechanical, or electrical engineering or the equivalent in work experience
- Minimum of 8 years experience in Data Center Infrastructures or Facilities Management
