Global Communications (GC) leads programs focused on building and protecting SAP ‘s reputation and supporting the company´s profitable growth. To do so, the team of 200 employees engages with analysts, bloggers, employees, influencers, as well as social & traditional media across all regions and countries SAP is present in. We develop and lead campaigns and programs which tell powerful stories about SAP`s impact in the world and with customers.

As part of Global Communications, Executive Communications advises and supports Board members in all aspects of communication to build a strong, unique profile as well as credibility across all target audiences. The team works closely with colleagues across GC and SAP to develop the stories and key messages that help individual leaders build authenticity as champions of SAP’s reputation and strategy.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
The Head of Executive Communications manages a team of executive communications experts responsible for positioning individual SAP Executive Board members. This global leader works closely with all Board members and their offices as well as relevant functions within the respective Board areas, GC colleagues across all functions, government relations, investor relations and business stakeholders across all regions. Together with the executive communications experts, the candidate will provide strategic communications guidance and counsel to Executive Board members and their teams to achieve maximum impact and positive outcome for SAP with authentic and tailored narratives for each Board member. The Head of Executive Communications will be responsible for implementing processes and best practices to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality content that reflects and aligns the narratives of the individual Board members and supports SAP’s strategy. The successful candidate will continuously challenge and improve the effectiveness of executive communications at SAP.
Key tasks will include:
Advise Executive Board members on building strategic platforms across all audiences and channels while ensuring consistent positioning approach across the Board.- Manage a team of executive communicators, represent the team in GC’s leadership team
- Support executive communications experts in creating Board members’ communication plans aligned with their individual strategic platform
- Support executive communications experts in shaping individual storylines and key messaging for their respective Board members
- Ensure messaging of individual Board members is consistent across the Board
- Develop executive communications strategy, priorities and execution plan and align with SAP’s overall strategic business objective
- Work closely with heads of analyst relations and global public relations as well as other communications functions to ensure best-in-class engagements across media, analysts, and other target groups per Board member
- Apply innovative techniques and creative ways to tell stories, determine the best way to engage with select audiences together with the respective communications functions
- Create/review high-quality, easy-to-digest content for individual Board member’s and target audiences for maximum impact
- Monitor and analyze communication activities to inform decision-making
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
University degree or equivalent education- In-depth understanding of the art of communications and positioning executives
- Communications all-rounder with strong storytelling skills and great business acumen
- Strong executive presence – ability to communicate with confidence and empathy, across all levels of leadership internally and externally
- Expertise in speechwriting
- Outstanding strategic planning skills and understanding of business relationships
- Understanding of media and analyst landscape
- Social media savvy
- English fluency required (spoken and written) and German fluency preferred
- Strong ability to deal competently and professionally with confidential, sensitive topics and crisis situations
- High degree of social and cultural awareness, ability to listen and effectively engage with different regional, global teams and moderate dialogue
- Tolerance for ambiguity and great level of flexibility
WORK EXPERIENCE
10 - 12 years' experience in internal and external communications or equivalent- Degree with focus on communications or business preferred
- Experience as people manager of diverse teams
- Experience in working in a global, extremely fast-paced business environment
