This position is for an experienced Aerospace Sand Casting Expert role to join a growing aerospace team with L&T Technology Services (LTTS). As an important part of the Mechanical team here at LTTS, you will actively be providing critical value to our customers by helping to ensure the production of high-quality cast components for aerospace applications.
This role will work with the LTTS team and our major aerospace customer to assist in identifying and delivering on continuous improvement projects, with the goal of increasing both yield and quality of complex near-net castings. The successful candidate will have experience in sand casting techniques, materials, and processes will be essential in ensuring the integrity, precision, and reliability of aerospace components. You will be a firm advocate of quality in our business.
The ideal candidate will have a trained eye for detail and will be reliable and committed. A passion for quality standards and quality product output is essential and job duties may include technical reviews, designing new tools or systems, interpreting data, or researching the science of manufacturing to better processes/accuracy.
This is an on-site position, meaning much of this role will require working out of our customers' facilities located in Minneapolis, MN.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize sand casting processes to meet strict aerospace industry standards for quality, performance, and reliability
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design and develop casting molds, cores, and tooling that meet aerospace specifications and requirements
- Implement rigorous quality control measures to ensure the dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and mechanical properties of cast components meet or exceed aerospace standards
- Diagnose and resolve casting defects and issues, such as porosity, shrinkage, and inclusions, using advanced metallurgical analysis and process optimization techniques
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance casting efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize production lead times while maintaining the highest standards of quality and reliability
- Maintain detailed records of casting processes, materials, and quality control procedures. Prepare technical reports and documentation for internal review and customer approval
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of casting processes into overall product development and production workflows
- Expertise in sand casting techniques, including green sand casting, resin sand casting, and investment casting
- In-depth knowledge of aerospace materials, alloys, and specifications, particularly those relevant to casting processes
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for tooling design and development
- Ability to analyze complex casting defects and recommend effective solutions
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Detail oriented, with strong organizational and communication skills
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations governing aerospace manufacturing processes, such as AS9100 and NADCAP
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field. Advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in aerospace sand casting
- Prolonged periods standing and sitting at a desk working on a computer.
