Sapphire Digital, now part of Zelis is looking for a data-driven Manager, Data Science who will work closely with the Business Intelligence and Data Engineering & Services teams and will help coordinate research and analytic activities utilizing various data points (unstructured and structured) and employs programming to clean, enhance, and organize the data.
In this position, you'll be responsible for:
- Formulating and leading guided, multifaceted analytic studies against large volumes of data.
- Interpreting and analyzing data using exploratory mathematical and statistical techniques based on the scientific method.
- Coordinating research and analytic activities utilizing various data points (unstructured and structured) and employs programming to clean, enhance, and organize the data.
- Experimenting against data points, provides information based on experiment results, and provides previously undiscovered solutions to data challenges.
- Leading all data experiments tasked by the Business Intelligence Team.
- Coordinating with Data Engineers to build data environments providing data identified by Data Analysts, Business Intelligence Developers, Machine Learning Engineers, and the business.
- Developing methodology and processes for prioritization and scheduling of projects.
- Analyzing problems and determines root causes.
- Defining company data assets (data models) and jobs to populate data models.
- Working closely with all business units and engineering teams to develop strategy for long term data platform architecture.
- Managerial oversight of team to develop, execute and complete assignments
- Organizing team roles, mentoring junior team members, and evaluating employee performance
- Documenting operational tasks and reporting to upper-level management
You might be a good fit if you have:
- Strong health care data knowledge (medical claims data, clinical data, pharmacy data, and eligibility data) preferred.
- Bachelor's degree (Statistics, Math, Computer Science, or related field) and a minimum of 5 to 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience as a data scientist.
- 5 years management skills leading teams
- Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Outcomes Research, Actuarial Science, Social Science, or Data Science a plus!
- Strong technical skills to extract and analyze Big Data such as SQL and Hadoop
- Strong technical skills for data visualization such as using Microsoft Power BI
- Knowledge of Machine Learning, SQL Server, PostgreSQL/SSIS/SSRS, Python/Django, Git, JIRA, Docker, and advanced MS Excel skills are required.
- Complete advanced statistical analysis using Python/R/SAS.
- Experience with version control software (Git preferred), agile development experience, and knowledge of design patterns.
- Experience working independently, contributing as a member of the team and result driven.
- Strong presentation skill to explain and present advanced statistical methods using non-technical language to key business stakeholder
