Responsibilities

Join the dynamic team at Sargent & Lundy and play a vital role in designing, building, and maintaining our cutting-edge cloud infrastructure. As a Database/Cloud Administrator, you will be responsible for creating and managing databases, virtual networks, and virtual machines, among other cloud platform services. Your expertise in Azure Cloud and Azure Active Directory will be instrumental in managing identities and ensuring secure access. With a strong focus on performance optimization and problem-solving, you will monitor and troubleshoot issues to maintain the highest level of system availability. Sargent & Lundy is a global leader in power and energy consulting, where innovation meets integrity, diversity, and a commitment to quality. Your responsibilities will encompass, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Design, build and maintain Sargent & Lundy’s Cloud infrastructure including databases, virtual networks, virtual machines, etc.
  • Administer IAAS, PAAS systems on Azure, Oracle Cloud, and other public cloud platforms.
  • Create and manage cloud platform services including App service, storage accounts, Functions, key vaults, etc.
  • Utilize Azure Active Directory to manage identities of database users and other Microsoft services.
  • Maintain change management for services in test and production environments.
  • Monitor performance of hardware, software, and cloud infrastructure components, and resolve system issues and outages.
  • Troubleshoot problems regarding the databases, applications, development tools, and cloud infrastructure components.
  • Create and manage backup,recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to support appropriate recovery points and recovery times.
  • Manage cloud user accounts and permissions for both databases and infrastructure.
  • Assist with the migration of existing databases and infrastructure to cloud-based systems.
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams concerning software upgrades, new software features, problem resolution, hardware upgrades, storage administration, and other maintenance.
  • Advise and enforce best practice methodologies for cloud systems.
  • Document operational, configuration, and other procedural processes.
  • Provide after-hours on-call support as part of a rotational schedule.

This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid schedule with the expectation of 3 days per week in the office, and 2 days remote from home.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience supporting highly available, secure cloud infrastructure and databases.
  • Previous experience in infrastructure and database design and operations.
  • Knowledge of shell, Perl, or equivalent scripting language and a drive to promote automation.
  • Effective, clear communicaton skills to ensure collaboration with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Strong troubleshooting techniques and problem-solving skills.
  • Desire to learn and become effective with new technologies and applications.
  • Collaborative personality with a desire to work with cross-functional teams.
  • IAAS and PAAS experience in Azure Cloud and Azure Active Directory would be a plus.
