Sargent & Lundy provides comprehensive consulting, engineering, design, analysis and Program Management for electric power generation, gas and power delivery projects worldwide. With a highly experienced staff dedicated to the energy business, we have the ability and know-how to take on the smallest tasks as well as the largest projects. We are currently looking for a qualified project support professional to work remotely and/or in Chicago, Illinois.
Responsibilities
This position will offer you the ability to directly apply your skills to meet project team needs associated with contracting, work management, materials tracking, financial forecasting/tracking and project execution. These tasks are critical to the successful management and execution of energy transmission and distribution projects. This work will include interfacing directly with project management, contractors, vendors, and site personnel to control/forecast costs and deliver reporting. Using a variety of industry and proprietary software tools and under the direction of project leadership, you will perform the following tasks:
- Create Requests for Proposals, solicit bids from contractors, and process Contract Requisitions
- Create and process Contract Change Requisitions for vendors supporting projects
- Create and process Contractor Payment Authorizations
- Perform financial forecasting and tracking, reviews and reporting of overall project accruals for large projects and programs.
- Capture new Work Orders and tasks in support of work management tracking
- Create Service Requests, provide change management controls for multiple contractors, equipment, and other project resources
- Support driving of projects to meet key schedule, cost and quality metrics for project success.
- Generate materials status reports and update materials request dates
Qualifications
Essential skills and experience:
- Ability to manage various data types, navigate software systems and interfaces with key stakeholders
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to interact and multitask with project team members, clients, and vendors of varying position levels.
- Motivation: Eager to learn new skills and develop knowledge to make a valuable impact to project team operation. Willing to engage with others to understand project team needs. Committed to deliver high quality, accurate deliverables with attention to detail.
- Computer Skills: Working knowledge in MS Office tools, with emphasis on the use of MS Excel and/or MS Access to support data collection, management and reporting requirements.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
- Bachelor of science degree from an ABET Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic background, or equivalent experience
- Related internship, co-op, or work experience, preferably within the power industry
- Experience using various conditional aggregation and lookup functions in MS Excel
- Experience with project information software solutions, such as IBM Asset Suite, Oracle People Soft, Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, and RedWave.
