About the Positions:
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and licensed Librarian with proficiency in 21st Century expectations and technology; proficiency in library science; experience with diverse digital platforms; ability to create a welcoming environment; ability to manage large groups of students of various ages and the ability to collaborate with many stakeholders, including various departments and school staff.
Job Responsibilities:
Maintain and develop collection and online resources- Develop and facilitate school-wide library events (including but not limited to books fairs and author circles)
- Instructs students and staff in the effective uses of the library and its resources
- Supports the school’s use of instructional technology to enhance learning
- Evaluates and selects resources that build a collection addressing recreational reading and curricular needs in collaboration with staff.
- Maintains an accurate, up-to-date catalog of resources
- Manage and supervise the library facility, its budget, and its programs
- Maintains a collection that adheres to state recommended guidelines for size, age and variety
- Develop and maintain a library procedures and operational manual
- Prepares and submit accurate reports as required
- Use online platforms to collect and share data
- Oversee and train library personnel, library media support staff and volunteers
- Supervise students in library before school within regular hours (as needed)
- Facilitate instruction of students in library science and 21st century skills
- Collaborate with teachers in planning lessons and activities that maximize the use of library resources
- Collaborate with other CPS Librarians as well as City Librarians
- Collaborate with principals and curriculum coordinators
- Assist students and teachers in selection of instructional materials, both print and electronic
- Oversee and support for online and directed study/independent learning (as needed)
- As needed, facilitate intervention/enrichment opportunities for students
- Advocate effectively for the library media program and its services
- Actively works to remain current in state and local curriculum
- Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students, colleagues, and parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of assigned students;
- Responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning, including, for implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, with 504 plans and\or second language learners;
- Foster learning environment that is safe and welcoming where all students thrive, providing equal educational opportunity to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, marital status, homelessness, religion, national origin, or disability;
- Responsible to support students with disabilities in a general education setting.
- Responsible to support and differentiate learning for students who are second language learners.
- Additional responsibilities may be added as determined by the principal(s) and district coordinator(s)
- A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university;
- Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education teacher licensure in grade and subject area appropriate for the assignment;
- Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement for core content teachers
- Ability to work with diverse population;
- Knowledge of MA Curriculum frameworks, curriculum, instruction, and assessment;
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and response to intervention helpful
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
- Bilingual Spanish
