ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Food Safety and Quality, Business Unit Leaders and Chemical and Pest Control Supply Vendors, to implement sanitation programs and meet key performance indicators (KPI's). Contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide direction to facility personnel in the development of systems, knowledge, capabilities, and practices in order to comply with all pertinent food regulations and maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of Sartori Company programs.
  • Educate and provide technical support to leaders and team members.
  • Monitor and report on emerging issues related to sanitation, pest control and food safety. Develop corporate strategies, policies and procedures.
  • Conduct periodic sanitation and pest audits against the consistent application and execution of procedures and all related sanitation and pest practices.
  • Provides technical support on effectiveness of plant sanitation and cleaning programs.
  • Guide facility planning and execution as needed during special cause events.
  • Assist in facility construction planning, plant start-up, sanitary design review and new equipment cleaning validation activities.
  • Provides technical direction and support to facility Sanitarian Coordinators.
  • Promotes consistency and aligns across manufacturing locations where possible.
  • Maintain knowledge current to industry standards and regulations and leads the implementation of any changes.
  • Promote continuous improvement culture within Sartori.
  • Backup Provision: In the absence of the Sanitation Programs Manager the Director of Food Safety and Quality will fulfill the food safety responsibilities of the Sanitation Programs Manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or equivalent, required.

Minimum of 5 years experience in food production sanitation and/or pest control

Experience with diverse sanitizing applications (wet clean, dry clean, CIP systems, automation)

 

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Experience in successfully addressing environmental sanitation challenges in areas such as drains, floors, walls roofs, equipment.
  • Experience managing multiple, remote locations and leading thru influence
  • Experience providing supervision, guidance, effective training and counsel to others.
  • Ability to understand and analyze issues involving food manufacturing, project management, mathematics (including statistics), technical and legal documents and schematics.
  • Ability to write and disseminate policies and procedures
  • Ability to understand food and environmental regulations and their impact on the organization, and our customers.
  • Strong organizational, communication and collaboration skills
  • Change-management skills including flexibility and adaptability.
  • Excellent leadership ability to develop and motivate work Teams to learn and apply new skills and techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail to achieve thoroughness and accuracy in everyday responsibility.
  • Intermediate math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of two, three- and four-digit numbers using units of weight measurement and conversion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and ERP systems, JD Edwards or related

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Complete CFS Sanitation Essentials training or equivalent within the first 2 years of employment.
  • Must have valid driver’s license for travel up 10% of time.

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member may be exposed to hazardous substances as outlined in the Chemical Hygiene Plan.  The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.

 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member may be required to work with computers, a variety and manufacturing facility and sanitation equipment, and hand tools required for sanitation and pest control.

 

PPE’S REQUIRED

Personal protective equipment that is required when working with hazardous materials or loud equipment includes: safety goggles, rubber or latex gloves, lab coat and hearing protection.  Other recommended PPE includes: face shield, chemical resistant apron or “rain suit” and steel toe shoes.  See Chemical Hygiene Plan for details.
