1:1 Special Education Transportation Nurse
Schedule: Approximately 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. Hours would
be approximately 7-9am and 1:30-3:30pm
Requirements:
- RN/LPN license in NH or Nursing Compact State without restrictions
- Must feel comfortable working with students with disabilities and complex medical issues
- Current BLS CPR Certification
- Minimum 2 years experience, pediatric nursing experience preferred
- Arrive at designated bus stop promptly each day
- Able to independently transfer wheelchair bound student as needed
- Able to pass a background check
Responsibilities
- To monitor health status of student during transport e.g. seizures, illness
medication
- To provide appropriate interventions for student, e.g., suctioning, feeding through
G-Tube, catheterization, etc.
- To provide emergency treatment, if necessary, to student in medical crisis
- Receive report from student's parents or school nurse, ensuring all required medical
equipment is packed with student, and assist student with boarding the bus.
- Report any concerns to school nursing staff, parent, and case manager
- Maintain student confidentiality
- Maintain accurate documentation on student's health record as needed
-Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physician
This is a temporary position of a 2-4 month duration.
