What are the responsibilities and job description for the 4th Grade Teacher - WVS (23-24) position at SAU 23 North Haverhill?
Applications are being accepted for the position of fourth-grade teacher at the Warren Village School for the 2023-2024 school year. Just what is a village school and why would I want to work there? A village is a small rural settlement larger than a hamlet but smaller than a town. The average village population runs between 500 2,500 persons.
Our Warren village has a population of just above 800 souls with 70 of those enrolled in our PreK-8 village school. True to the adage It takes a village, WVS students and staff routinely interact with our small business owners, our village administrator, our selectpersons, our road agent, our chief of police, our fire chief, our ambulance service, our veterans, our pastor, and the community at large. These entities are as invested in the health, welfare, and success of our children as we are. In fact, you could consider them pro bono adjunct faculty!
Our children are known, loved, and cared for by the entire community. Our staff ethos includes: Flattened Hierarchy We are a collection of peers with different responsibilities. Decisions are governed by consensus as much as possible. Individual talent is celebrated as a gift for all.Family First We acknowledge that taking care of our own family is as important as taking care of our school family. When staff are needed at home, that is where they should be.Help goes where help is needed We have assigned grades and duties, but not assigned spaces or roles.
We go where there is a need regardless of our official credentials. We turn on a dime When it comes to bureaucracy, we have a low overhead. We can make things happen fast whether they are filed trips, event opportunities, student celebrations, or crisis response. When we cant bring the children out in the world, we bring the world to them Our school is rural and remote, but our outlook is global. Whether it be culture, sports, city life, or world events, we strive to expose our students to life beyond the village.
There are no cracks Every student is known, cared for, and loved by all staff. Extra academic support is provided to 100% of the students that need it.Self-Care Staff are afforded non-judgmental latitude to care for their physical and mental well-being. We have a full-time nurse.Fun We practice professionalism with one another but not at the expense of laughter and fun.The principal is available to all staff and families 24/7 We practice informational transparency and take proactive steps to dissipate gossip. The principal is available day or night by phone to address any staff or parent/caregiver concerns.
Social media gossip is easily discounted or verified, preferably before it becomes social media gossip. Unconditional Positive Regard We practice unconditional positive regard with each other and our families. We know that varied circumstances embrace us all and we are committed to judgment-free positive interactions.WVS has the following positions open for employment: Full-time 4th-grade teacherFull-time Middle School Science teacherFull-time 5th-grade teacherThe search committee will be looking for candidates with the following: A NH teaching certificate with a K-6 (1810) or K-8 (1811) endorsementAbility to meet students needs through effective differentiated instructionAbility to analyze student performance data in order to make instructional decisionsAbility to recognize a situational school need and fulfill that need regardless of the current assignmentAbility to bring unique opportunities to students beyond the classroomAbility to effectively communicate with parents or guardians on the progress of their childTraining in a Responsive Classroom is a plus
