POSITION SUMMARY:
The Youth Program Group Leader, under the direction of Youth Program Administrator, is responsible for performing a wide range of activities related to children's recreation programs, including researching, developing, planning, organizing, leading and instructing games and activities, including athletics, arts and crafts, music, cultural arts and activities, field trips and games.

Immediate peers, peers in other departments, immediate supervisor/manager, managers in other departments, customers and outside vendors/service providers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position medium with lifting of 50 pounds maximum and with frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds. Physical factors include constant standing, walking, climbing, reaching, manual handling, and use of hearing, near/midrange/far vision, frequent carrying/lifting/pushing/pulling, stooping, kneeling, and use of smell, depth perception, color/field of vision, typing and bending. Working conditions include frequent exposure to noise and occasional exposure to weather, extreme heat/cold, wet/humidity, vibration and air quality. Potential hazards include frequent client contact and occasional exposure to chemicals, insecticides/pesticides, infectious exposure, computer and equipment use.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum 3 years youth related work experience required. Minimum 1-year work experience supervising staff required.
Certification/License: Will be required to undergo and successfully pass a background check. Must maintain a good moral character standing. Will be required to complete and pass pre-employment drug testing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of customer service practices required. Knowledge of broad range of recreational activities required. Knowledge of childhood safe keeping procedures required. Knowledge of effective disciplinary methods preferred. Must have or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification upon hire, training will be provided. Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in a diverse range of audiences and settings. Physical and emotional endurance necessary to work with youth required. Must possess excellent negotiating, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills. Must have organizational skills and be able to plan, prioritize and manage work load to meet goals in a timely manner. Must have excellent public relations/customer service skills and be able to exhibit friendly and positive attitude and establish and maintain effective communication with co-workers, supervisors and guests. Must be able to work with minimal to no supervision. Must be able to analyze situations carefully and adopt effective courses of action. Must be able to develop youth programs relevant to participants' abilities. Must be able to assign tasks and activities to Group Assistants based on strengths. Must be able to provide age-appropriate assistance to children in an appropriate and caring manner. Must be able to respond to difficult and stressful situations in an efficient, effective and positive manner. Native American preferred.
