SUMMARY
Serve as a source of communication for the nursing staff. Perform clerical functions for the nursing department, greet visitors and customers and route them to the appropriate staff. Maintain chart order and assist with resident care when so directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answer telephones and direct all communication at the nurses’ station.
Obtain new resident information.
File charts and forms.
Prepare consult sheets, H & Ps, etc. for residents’ physician’s appointments.
Perform other related duties and errands under the direction of the DON.
Update and print Care Plan Communicator.
Perform data entry and maintain files.
Prepare forms for lab and/or x-ray requests.
Accurately transcribe doctors’ orders for the nurses.
Take down dismissal charts and enter codes for discharge residents.
Notify dietary of any changes or tray requests as needed.
Assist with the daily scheduling of nursing staff as needed.
Order medications, supplies and necessary items.
Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or the equivalent.
Prefer knowledge of medical terminology.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current Nebraska CNA registration. MA registration preferred.
