We are currently seeking an Activities Aide to join our team on a flexible part-time or per diem schedule.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the residents' smoking program to include supervising residents during their smoking break to ensure compliance with facility smoking policy. This does require the Activity Aide to be present with resisdents during their smoking breaks;
- Provides or arranges for residents in need of one-to-one therapeutic activity services;
- Plans, implements and facilitates therapeutic activity groups; incorporates residents' needs and wishes;
- Safely escorts residents to and from activities throughout the facility;
- Encourages and motivates residents to attend provided programs;
- Posts program changes on activity schedule board and verbally communicates changes to involved parties in a timely manner;
- Reports relevant information regarding residents' progress both verbally and in written form to appropriate staff members for maintenance in therapy assessment and progress notes;
- Completion of resident assessment and development of car plan to meet resdients' needs and leisure interests;
- Enters data on assigned residents into the MDS system in an accurate and timely manner and as designated by established procedures.
- Effectively collaborates with other Therapeutic Recreatinal staff members to work towards the achievement of common department goals and to reflect a therapeutic environment that frequently involves family members and the community.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Activities certification from Nathional Council for Activity Professionals welcome
- A minimum of three (3) months of experience working directly with the elderly population preferably in a long-term care environment
- Expereince using Microsoft applications such as Word and Publisher
- Excellent communication and team builidng skills
