Savage is currently seeking a Director of SH&E to help design and execute the SH&E strategic plan. The Director will support SH&E Professionals, Business Unit Leaders, Regional Directors, Operation Managers, and Team Members in the field, primarily focusing on the Safety, Health, and Environmental disciplines in an industrial setting.Education or Experience required
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Health, Environmental, or related field required
8-10 years experience in a refining/petrochemical safety, health, and environmental leadership role
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) required
Rail operating experience is strongly preferred
What you'll be doing
Develop and use proactive processes, systems, tools, and metrics to drive SH&E's continuous improvement and optimize performance in conjunction with the Sr. Safety Director.
Manage a professional team that:
Oversees reporting and record-keeping requirements for internal and external SH&E metrics.
Works closely with operations to ensure work activities are performed in a safe manner in compliance with applicable Savage policies, regulatory obligations, and customer requirements.
Facilitates incident investigation, root cause analysis, implementation, and closure of corrective actions.
Seeks to share best practices within and across the organization to improve SH&E performance.
Works closely with Operation Managers implementing the SH&E, Training, and Compliance portions of Savage’s S7 Delivery System.
Assists with return-to-work and temporary-transitional-assignment cases, collaborating with the Risk Department on the progress of each case.
Helps facilitate Lead Safety Specialist and Safety Specialist programs, including training and scheduling.
Provides safety and health training and, where qualified, provides instructor-led technical training.
Interfaces with regulatory agencies (OSHA / DOT/ FRA) as needed.
Acts as a resource to the operations with incident prevention and in efforts to evaluate, select, and deploy personal protective equipment, engineering, or administrative control of hazards.
Develop direct reports in areas that provide benefit to themselves, the operations they support, and the organization.
Willing to be reached and able to assist 24/7/365.
Participate as a member of various Savage Councils and Committees.
Lead efforts to achieve the goal of an incident-free workplace.

What you'll need to be successful
Must be able to complete a DISA background check and drug/alcohol screening
50% travel by automobile or airplane required
Broad knowledge and understanding of safety, health, and environment (OSHA, DOT, FRA, and EPA)
Ability to analyze situations and data and make sound decisions
Training experience preferred
Computer skills (MS Office Suite)
Excellent organizational and communication skills: written and spoken
Detail-oriented and self-starter

Salary : $82,700 - $105,000
