Major Purpose :

The Warehouse / Wash Bay Operator's primary responsibility is to safely wash the interior and exterior of tank railcars and tank trailers and to perform tote transfers.

This position will also be required to load and unload box cars and van trailers with a forklift. It is expected that the Wash Bay Technician will have the ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies.

Job Responsibilities :

• Washes the interior and exterior of trailers and railcars using high pressure water and chemicals
• Washes, reconditions and recertifies chemical totes using high pressure water
• Disassembles, washes, and reassembles filter housings, hoses and pumps
• Responsible for operating the waste water treatment plant in accordance with all regulatory requirements (i.e. LAWPCA / DEP / OSHA), and per Savage Safe Handling work instructions
• Represents the company through proper maintenance of uniforms, personal appearance, and conduct
• Assists with keeping the warehouse clean and organized
• Moves and stacks palletized product using Powered Industrial Equipment (forklift)
• Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned
• Loading and unloading of trailers and railcars
• Tote chemical transfers

Requirements :

• Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately
• Forklift experience preferred
• Must be able to read, write, and understand mathematical concepts
• Read and speak English sufficiently to read signs, documents and understand instructions
• Gives attention to detail
• Self-starter and works with little or no supervision
• Self-directed and motivated to exceed expectations
• Has a strong commitment to safety
• Good customer service skills

Education / Experience :

High School Diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements :

• Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment, such as respirators, Tyvek suits, protective boots, and hearing protection
• Must frequently lift and / or move up to 50 lbs.
• Must occasionally climb up and down ladders
• Must be able to bend, stoop or crouch throughout the day
