Savage is currently seeking a Senior SH&E Manager to join our Safety team and lead the fortification of safety implementation, enhance team member engagement, and bolster operational leadership. This pivotal role requires extensive experience in rail operations and safety, along with a deep commitment to promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

What You Will be doing:
Lead, guide,and mentor team members to embody and champion the Savage safety culture
Provide expertise and support in S7 development and quarterly operational self-assessments, focusing on Employee, Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E), Planning and Productivity, and Professionalism
Oversee operations across multiple locations throughout Texas and Louisiana, ensuring consistent safety standards are implemented
Ensure the completion and documentation of all orientation, technical, and site-specific training, striving for excellence in team member preparedness
Foster a robust working relationship with each safety department and actively participate in scheduled meetings
Provide strong leadership and guidance to Lead Safety Specialists and Safety Specialists, nurturing their professional development
Review and, if necessary, revise the Emergency Response Plans for each location, ensuring they are comprehensive and up-to-date
Deliver required rail-related site/job-specific training to all team members, ensuring their competency in safety protocols
Regularly update the Site-Specific Safety Metrics and share insights with relevant stakeholders
Review and update written procedures annually or when the work scope changes, ensuring they are accurately aligned with tasks performed
What You Need to be Successful:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of management experience, with a proven ability to lead and develop teams
CSP (Certified Safety Professional) Certification preferred
Extensive knowledge of hazardous materials, transloading, OSHA regulations, and safety norms in the rail industry
3 years of leadership experience in industrial rail operations and safety & training areas, demonstrating a track record of successful safety initiatives
Ability to perform rail-switching tasks, and proficiency in demonstrating and training team members to perform their job assignments safely
Willingness to work outside in various weather conditions and to be available for different shifts and weekends as needed
Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications
