Primary Function:

 

This position is responsible for the implementation and oversight of a comprehensive District’s engagement strategy with internal and external stakeholders including staff, community, business, and with a particular emphasis on engaging families as essential partners. This person will be a strategic thinker capable of reaching diverse audience through innovative engagement practice. This role includes supervisory duties and will manage a team of individuals whose primary functional duties include direct engagement with parents, business, volunteers, and community organizations that will strengthen the District’s strategic goals and partnerships.

Salary Schedule: (A-2) Exempt

Work Days: 250 Days

  

Requirements:

 

  1. Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree with specialization in Public Engagement, Relations or Community Service Administration from an accredited college or university

 

Preferred:

  • Post-secondary with Public Relations or Business Administration emphasis
  • Master’s degree with coursework in Community Service Administration, Public Relations, Project Management, or related areas

 

 

Experience, Skill, and Certification:

 

Required:

 

  • Experience working in a multi-faceted environment; adaptable to support shifting priorities.
  • Effective skills to work independently with goal and strategic approaches used in decision making.
  • Strong understanding of Savannah-Chatham community and diverse needs of those communities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with constituents from diverse backgrounds including parents/guardians, alumni, school administrators, teachers, partners, and broader community stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software programs.
  • Proficiency in the use of standard business office equipment.
  • Proficiency in navigating/working with digital, web-based mediums.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once with acute attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices.
  • Excellent skills in verbal and written communication; Experience developing and delivering presentations.
  • Ability to work with managers and other employees on a variety of projects that require effective level of customer service and professionalism.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills.
  • Program management and budgeting skills.
  • Flexible schedule to support community and district evening or weekend events/meetings.

 

Essential Duties:

 

  1. Develop, review, adjust short- and long-term goals for the Department aligned to the goals and objectives of the District’s strategic plan.
  2. Create and implement an annual Community and Parent Engagement Plan
  3. Builds and manages team to effectively facilitate family and community engagement initiatives with clear performance goals.
  4. Develops and delivers professional development for key personnel including teachers, principals, front-office staff, and parent liaisons to ensure engagement standards and effective engagement practices are embedded in day-to-day work.
  5. Work as needed with facets of the community, such as PTAs, business partners, faith-based organizations, and families to ensure positive communication between the school system and its stake holders.
  6. Creates, implements and supports work to facility established or newly approved District wide events that create engagement opportunities for the District.
  7. Represents the District at various stakeholder meetings or community events.
  8. Maintains appropriate, professional relationships with internal and external professional offices.
  9. Maintains confidentiality of information.
  10. Manages budgets and cost estimates based upon program needs. Ensures that programs are cost effective and funds are managed prudently.
  11. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

Incumbents will be considered “at will.” Appropriate pay will be determined based on Grade A-2 and allowable experience as determined by Human Resources. The work calendar will be 250-days.          EXEMPT                                      New 01-2024
