Sawyer Home & Garden Center is now hiring Produce Clerks to join our team!

We are looking for part-time and full-time produce clerks to join our team for the spring, summer and fall seasons! We take pride in our produce department, and we are known for having the best local produce and strive to always offer top quality products. This position is great for anyone looking for a summer job. The ideas candidate will be a self-motivated individual who pays attention to detail.

An ideal candidate would have weekend availability and be able to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week.

Duties include but are not limited to

• Unloading deliveries
• Checking produce
• Discard inferior or defective products
• Restocking produce with quality products
• Moving produce to new location in the store as needed
• Price produce and other products
• Grade, sort or classify unprocessed food and other agricultural products according to specific factors such as, color, appearance, feel, smell, and general quality
• Cheerfully greeting customers entering the establishment
• Answering customer questions
• Place products in containers according to grade and mark containers
• Bagging, boxing, or wrapping merchandise
• Offering carry-out assistance to customers
• Stocking/facing shelves
• Using a 2-way radio system
• Maintaining a clean and orderly area

Requirements

• Must be willing to train as a cashier for back-up (if 18 years or older)
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment indoors and outdoors
• Must be dependable
• Must be a team player, willing to help as needed
• Must be available to work until 7 PM, weekends, and some holidays
• Experience is preferred but not necessary - we will train you!
• This job will require you to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 40 lbs.
