Job Description
Saylor Consulting Group (SCG) has an opportunity for a Cost Engineer to work with our client, Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) in San Francisco, CA with experience in performing cost management, planning, estimating, scheduling and other project controls functions over engineering, procurement, and construction for large capital projects.
Daily Duties
- Coordinate with Project Controls and other stakeholders to ensure project financial data is complete and supports project completion and budget forecasts.
- Develop and maintain project forecasts, cost plans, and other financial information.
- Gather project financial information and data from key project stakeholders
- Review Contractor's proposed invoice, pay applications and coordinate with CM and DSDC to confirm progress.
- Interact with the Owner’s team and stakeholders in a professional manner.
- Prepare weekly/bi-weekly/monthly reports to project management team/stakeholders.
- Analyze project financial trends by comparing budget against actual and forecast data; provide recommendations and guidance to the Project Manager
- Attend and participate in project status meetings
- Maintain project documentation
- Manage information and data within various software and databases
- Evaluate the actual construction status relative to proposed plan.
- Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques for the monitoring, measurement, and management of project performance. Use standard metrics applied to scope, cost and schedule.
- Support project risk analyst in identifying, resolving, and tracking risks.
- Assist with coordination with larger Program tracking, and monitoring of performance metrics
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years experience in performing cost management, planning, estimating, scheduling and other project controls functions over engineering, procurement, and construction for large capital projects.
- Knowledge in project control fundamentals (AACE) with superior analytical skills
- Expertise in financial analysis, schedule analysis, modeling and budgeting methodologies
- Advanced analytics and data manipulation skills in MS Excel
- Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, project-centric environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to learn organization’s software, programs, and processes in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and verbal instructions.
- BS/BA in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or related degree.
