Salary $75k-$80k Annually DOE The purpose of the Accounting Manager is to oversee all areas relating to accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audit, general cashier, taxes, internal controls and financial reporting. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure Develop and implement new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department. Ensure an accurate and timely reporting of all financial information monthly, quarterly and year end close. Maintain confidentiality of all financial data. Assist the Corporate Controller in the daily banking requirements. Supports budget and forecasting activities. Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Advises hotel staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions. Responds to inquiries from the Controller and other finance and company-wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like. Performs day-to-day accounts payable functions while overseeing accounts receivable, income audit, general cashier, taxes and internal controls. Operates office equipment including personal computer, copiers, fax machines and 10-key calculator. Organizes and maintains retention files for required period of time Performs any other duties as requested by supervisor. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A high school diploma or general education degree (GED); college level accounting classes or Accounting Degree preferred. 4 to 6 years of hands-on Accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. QUALIFICATIONS Ability to read, analyze and interpret common financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages. Strong working knowledge of MS Word is required, specifically Excel. Experience with automated accounting systems is required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises Accounting Clerk, position may vary by hotel. Oversees duties of Night Auditors.
