Summary:
The Teacher Mentor, under the guidance of the SCACAP EHS-CCP Education Coordinator, is responsible for mentoring and coaching both center-based and home-based teaching staff. The role is designed to promote staff development, ensure high-quality education services, and support positive child outcomes in compliance with performance standards, licensing requirements, and quality initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Education Quality: Promote and ensure developmentally appropriate infant/toddler education experiences that align with Head Start Performance Standards and Early Learning Standards.
- Observation & Feedback: Conduct regular classroom and home-based observations, providing constructive feedback and setting goals to enhance teaching practices.
- Mentoring Tools: Use various resources (e.g., reading materials, modeling, videotaping) to support staff learning and growth.
- Curriculum Support: Assist in developing and implementing lesson plans that include parent engagement, individualization, and support for diverse needs.
- Curriculum Implementation: Guide staff in the full implementation of curriculums such as Creative Curriculum and Conscious Discipline, and the Teaching Strategies GOLD assessment system.
- Interaction Quality: Assess and improve the quality of teacher-child and home visitor interactions.
- Training & Collaboration: Attend relevant meetings, provide training, and collaborate with internal and external partners.
- Professional Development: Identify areas for staff growth and assist with arranging and delivering professional development opportunities.
- Team Coordination: Ensure a collaborative approach to service delivery.
Other Duties:
Perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor.
Job Type: Full-time
