Position: Exempt/Salaried
The Inventory Planner is responsible for managing the buying and inventory flow of our products necessary to maximize the growth of Scandinavian Designs and Dania Furniture. The Inventory Planner will work with our inventory to raise our profits by making strategic decisions on purchases from our domestic and international vendors. Our Inventory Planner will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical abilities, know-how to navigate changing market conditions as well as strong negotiation skills. This is a non-remote position and based in our Boise, ID HQ.
What You Will Do
- Analyze sales trends to flow inventory to distribution centers to maximize sales in retail and online.
- Work with Buying team to forecast new products to ensure timely new product launches.
- Manage vendor delivery times to ensure accurate lead times are being met and take corrective actions to minimize out-of-stock and overstock inventory.
- Craft strong relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery, and compliance with terms of contracts.
- Work with Buying and Retail teams on liquidation and promotional strategies to work through obsolete and overstocked inventory on a regular basis to balance on-hand inventory with the desired company margin goals.
- Evaluate and make recommendations on stock level adjustments at the Retail and Distribution Center Levels to optimize sales and minimize inventory spend.
- Forecast inventory buys, prepare, and issue purchase orders to vendors.
- Partner with various departments on product feedback and inventory levels ranging from Marketing, Accounting, Operations, eCommerce, Distribution Centers, Showrooms, Logistics, Customer Experience etc., and the executive team on strategic imperatives for the business.
- Perform other special projects or duties when required.
WHO YOU ARE
- Experience as an Inventory Analyst, Inventory Planner or relevant role controlling inventory in a strategic way to strengthen and improve the business.
- Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Have the versatility to handle many on-going projects simultaneously.
- Excel in:
- Negotiating prices and terms and conditions with the company’s best interest in mind.
- Supporting a team and with strong self-initiative, able to work independently, collaboratively with vendors and DCs and able to meet tight deadlines.
- Microsoft Office: Word and Excel and continuously working to improve and learn higher functions.
- Actively work to find solutions for problems and streamline processes to optimize workflow.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to business leaders and other members of the organization when needed.
- Familiarity with working Open-to-Buy plans is a plus.
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Prolonged sitting, standing, moderate reaching and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work and travel to other locations.
- Our positions require successfully completing the pre-employment background check and signing a nondisclosure agreement.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in business, merchandising or equivalent experience.
