Job Summary 

The Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst responsible for ensuring a high level of quality, performance and accuracy of new and existing software technologies using test automation as well as manual testing practices. This role primarily focuses on web-based efforts that are utilized in a high availability, clustered web environment. This role works in conjunction with project management and other technical disciplines to create websites and applications that fulfill our internal and client business requirements according to budget, scope, design, quality standards and timeline.   

 

 Key Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Participate in an initial consultation with the software development team and the IT Project Manager to ensure proper understanding of project scope
  • Create testing plans based on the parameters outlined in the scope
  • Design and develop test automation scripts using test automation guidelines
  • Record all defects with appropriate level of detail in Azure DevOps or other designated issue tracking system
  • Record and monitor detailed metrics to track the progress and outcomes of the testing process
  • Communicate testing status verbally and in writing to the software development team and the Project Manager
  • Make recommendations, debug failures and perform other tasks required
  • Simulate an application state through use of administration applications or database scripts
  • Participate in Scantron’s on-call rotation
  • Translate use-cases and other requirement types into effective test cases according as part of SDLC
  • Work with both internal and external stakeholders to develop / evaluate appropriate functional specifications
  • Support the development of software documentation and other support materials
  • Other duties as assigned by the department

 

Required skills

  • Thorough understanding of the Software Quality Assurance Life Cycle with strong QA process skills.
  • Background in automation
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to routinely demonstrate initiative and an ability to work autonomously
  • Desire to operate and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Multi-task effectively
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and data gathering skills

  • Must also be able to speak in layman's terms to any nontechnical colleagues or clients

 

Qualifications

  • 5 years of hands-on experience in all phases of testing: system integration, user acceptance and regression testing.
