Bookkeeper/Payroll Specialist
We are seeking a Bookkeeper/Payroll Specialist to join our team. Candidate should have an associate degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience, as well as a knowledge of accounting practices. This position will be responsible for providing general accounting and payroll to clients from a variety of industries. Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software package (not required). The ideal candidate will have experience working in a professional setting, and excellent customer service skills. We are looking for a positive, motivated team player to join our team.
Responsibilities Include:
- Prepare, organize, and electronically file tax returns and financial documents for clients
- Payroll preparation, including monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax returns
- Prepare state sales tax return
- Data entry and processing for A/P and A/R
- Perform journal entry maintenance and QuickBooks support
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with firm policy and GAAP
- Maintains payroll information, collecting, calculating and entering payroll data
- Updates payroll records by entering changes and compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, including monthly and quarterly payroll tax returns
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
- Filing of tax documents in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
- Work closely with clients to ensure quality and timely service
Required Skilled & Experience:
- Two- or four-year college degree with focus in Accounting, Business Administration, or relatable field; comparable work experience will also be considered
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. QuickBooks, Sage, Accounting CS, and other various tax/accounting software experience is preferred, but not required
- Strong analytical and time-management skills; reasonable, dependable, and organized work habits
- Experience required in customer service, data entry, bookkeeping, payroll, or administrative support in an office environment
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects and increased workload simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment during tax season (January thru April)
- Must be able to work increased hours during tax season, including weeknights and weekends
