What are the responsibilities and job description for the Account Director position at Schifino Lee?
The Account Director will be in a “player/coach” role and have the responsibility of coaching the account team in addition to managing their own portfolio of agency key accounts. This role will also be responsible for maintaining and developing new business in partnership with the New Business Development Director and ensuring all scopes are set up for agency profitability. The Account Director will trouble-shoot and handle priority issues with a solution-first mindset utilizing deep agency expertise and understanding of our clients’ business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for managing assigned book of business including leading day-to-day project management, while also overseeing account services team, ensuring that all initiatives support brand and overall strategy; briefs, POVs, creative, media plans, etc. with little to zero oversight
- Ensures all agency work is executed to the highest level of quality (on time and on budget!) while keeping an ear to the ground for business growth opportunities within each account
- Successfully leads multiple projects, communicates effectively, recognizes client needs and provides added value opportunities and next steps to execute
- Leads regular internal meetings with team with a solution-oriented mindset to move the agency forward
- Holds regular client status meetings and provides ongoing progress reports to ensure projects are executed according to the timeline
- Provides leadership, development, mentoring and coaching of account services team to aid in their growth
- Participates as an active member of the agency leadership team and carries out additional responsibilities and projects that promote the growth, development, and continued success of the agency and its employees
- Performs full range of managerial responsibilities which may include but not be limited to: interviewing, hiring, coaching and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; performance management; department budget
- Maintains a deep understanding of the employment market related to the positions, geography, competition, and employment market, as well as specific candidate/employee needs related to these staffing needs
- Trouble-shoots and provides crisis management using subject matter expertise to assist various accounts as needed
- Develops and maintains positive internal and external client relationships
- Reviews all agency scopes of work for profitability and feasibility and ensures all T&C’s are correct/up to date with agency requirements
- Analyzes Client Profit & Loss statements, projections, productivity reports and utilizes other tools and reports for continued success of team
- Creates and reviews monthly budget recaps to ensure all projects are within budget
- Reviews monthly billing with AEs for accuracy, to ensure timelines and estimates align with contracts
- Works collaboratively with Executive Creative Director to ensure efficient internal workflow
- Oversees team’s adherence to contracted schedules, media plans, social media calendars, etc.
- Reviews creative briefs to provide constructive feedback and guidance
- Leverages agency tools accurately and efficiently (Workamajig, Helixa, Sprout Social, etc.)
- Responsible for monitoring and improving client satisfaction
- Redirects work as needed depending on client needs and fluctuations in business
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required in advertising, communications, marketing or related field
- 10 years of advertising agency and/or project management experience
- Minimum of 2-3 years of team leadership experience required
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Self-starter with the ability to deliver results without constant supervision
- Account management pro with inherent critical/strategic thinking skills and a solution-oriented mindset
- Must have strong project management skills with the proven ability to multi-task
- Medium-to-Large Account Experience (B2C & B2B)
- Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Workamajig experience a PLUS
