Sales EngineerThe Sales Engineer, Application Engineering is responsible for the design confirmation and costing of solutions using engineering fundamentals and established practices, procedures, and guidelines.
The position will engage and be a critical link in the project life cycle, providing technical support, task management, delivery, and process flow innovation in the areas of sales engineering.
* Product Bid Support: Provides pre- and post-sales technical advice and support on products to the field organization (FO). Key point of contact for the FO, answering queries, providing technical advice, quoting costs, and introducing product solutions.
* Deliverable Management: Accomplish specified technical objectives on time and to customers' expectations. Meet and exceed Service Level Agreement requirements. Monitor bookings to ensure they are accurately completed prior to passing them into engineering.
* Engineering Excellence: Assist in defining new techniques to improve process flow and eliminate defects. Suggest new methods to reduce cost and increase efficiency. Identify and drive product configuration tool recommendations for improvement.
Scope of Responsibility:
- Review bid documentations (specifications, shop drawings, etc) to ensure the product being offered can meet the client's requirements.
- Ensure material cost for the customization of product as well as engineering hours are accounted for in bids.
- Ensure lead-times to accommodate custom work is accounted for in bids
- Reconcile bid alternates as well as engineering bid guidance provided with what is being booked to ensure booking is processed accurately.
- Provide the FO with alternate bid options in order to drive custom product applications to standard solutions.
- Consult with application engineering when very custom solutions are requested to ensure buy in to scope, engineering effort and lead-time.
- Ensure clean hand-off of bookings from the Fulfilment Gateway to FO, applications engineering and project managers.
- Actively identifies opportunities for improvement in product, process, and costs
- Identify and drive product configuration tool recommendations for improvement.
- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service; serves and satisfies internal and external customers; holds self-accountable for quality outcomes.
- Collaborates in a leadership and support role, to effectively drive projects and deliverables to completion.
