Schnabel is seeking a Billing Manager to join our growing corporate team in Richmond, VA. The Billing Manager will manage a team of 3 leads and 10 billers ensuring timely and accurate invoicing to our customers. In addition, the Billing Manager will recommend and implement process improvements across the billing function. This position will report to the Controller and will be a member of the finance leadership team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement effective billing strategies and tactics that align with industry standards and company objectives.
• Supervises staff and coordinates workflow of the department.
• Oversees the preparation of customer bills.
• Conduct training for team members.
• Perform a quality control review of invoices prepared by the billing team.
• Research client invoice inquiries and prepare billing adjustments.
• Ensure consistent and accurate billing related data quality within the ERP system.
• Perform month end and year end close procedures related to the billing process, including assisting with audit requests.
• Report and manage key performance indicators.
• Assist accounts receivable with daily operations while adhering to company policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 7 years of billing experience, including at least 1 year of management experience OR 10 years of billing experience with a high school diploma, including 1 year of management experience.

• Possess a strong understanding of project workflow from initial project setup to project completion within a professional services environment.

• Knowledge of contract types and related billing requirements in a government contracting environment.
• Understanding of financial statement implications of revenue, write-offs, and unbilled balances.
• Experience working within an ERP billing application.
• Thorough attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with maintaining professional and collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
• Demonstrated advanced proficiency of Microsoft Excel.
• Intermediate proficiency with other Microsoft Office products.

Desired Skills/Experience:

• Experience in any Deltek ERP system (Costpoint, Vision, Vantagepoint).
• Basic understating of collection practices and laws.
• Track record of delivering excellent customer service within a billing function.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit check.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment screening.
• Travel as needed.
