Manager, Research and Due Diligence

Schneider Downs Wealth Management Advisors (SDWMA), an affiliate of Schneider Downs, is a Registered Investment Advisor specializing in investment advisory services and personal financial planning for high-net-worth individuals, as well as investment advisory service to retirement plans, including investment menu design and oversight, investment analysis, financial planning, and general education for retirement plan participants.

SUMMARY
The Manager, Research and Due Diligence position is an integral position on the SDMWA (PFS) investment team and in this role, you will have an opportunity to research all areas of capital markets. SDWMA allocates to traditional (equity and fixed income) and non-traditional (infrastructure, farmland, timberland, real estate, private equity, co-investment private equity, and venture capital) investment strategies. The primary role of the Manager, Research and Due Diligence will be to support the Chief Investment Officer in overseeing and monitoring the investment platform, as well as helping SDWMA advisors implement tailored investment portfolios that fit the goals and objectives of each client. 

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Attend weekly capital market update calls from various firms (e.g., Blackstone, Neuberger Berman, Blackrock, JP Morgan, Charles Schwab), take notes from the calls and report back to the Chief Investment Officer on findings.
  • Participate in investment strategy update calls from current SDWMA investment managers
  • Aid in the research of new investment strategies and themes, and maintain and improve firm databases 
  • Attend investment manager and economic conferences (virtual and travel)
  • Meet weekly with the Chief Investment Officer, and attend all meetings of the SDWMA investment team

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or related field is required (candidates outside of these traditional majors may be considered as long as candidate demonstrate proficiencies in the above)
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience is required 
Preferred:
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation (or progress towards achieving) is strongly preferred
  • Interest in obtaining the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation is strongly preferred
Other:
  • Intense interest and depth of knowledge in capital markets and investments (traditional and non-traditional)
  • Baseline quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Self-starter who is motivated to actively engage and participate in investment decisions
