Position Summary
- The mission of the Business Economist role is to help the North American Operations team make the most informed decisions possible for the benefit of Schneider Electric
- You are going to aid the business decision making process through a deep understanding of economic drivers affecting performance and providing insights on our short- and long-term planning, all while balancing the need to harmonize and simplify our current processes across Business Units and geographies
- This position will be the responsible for providing insights on the economy that impact all lines of business within the North America Operations organization
Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate, analyze and communicate economic data, market trends, industry development and monthly inflation exposure to support current and future impact on the North America Operations P&L performance
- Economic and Strategic Analysis
- Lead regional (US, Mexico, Canada) cross functional teams (Business Controllers, Strategy, Finance Analysts, corporate economists) to review the monthly End Market data, analyze the SWDA financial orders and sales results, responsible for monitoring macroeconomics variances and market insights
- Create the package each month for the US economic overview reflecting the business-related indicators, segment performance, combining the financial trends within the businesses to identify variances
- Create and conduct the monthly NEMA market share analysis to demonstrate the changes of the market share for each business over time
- Finance support and collaboration with the US Strategy team on various topics, such as the quarterly Competitive Analysis; comparing our financial performance with competitor’s performance on comparable segments and other ad-hoc work by request
- Be the support for corporate economist on various topics, such as commercial team information, topline trend, distributor/pricing information, indicators for the corporate Composite Index updates, views on market outlook and other ad-hoc work by request
- Other ad-hoc work by request; mostly external data (macroeconomic factors) and assessment of the impact on the business operations, financial performance and overall strategy

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance or Business;
- At least 2 years related financial experience, with advanced knowledge of financial modeling theory, principles and practices
- Advanced PC skills (emphasis on MS Excel, Power Point, HFM/Hyperion/Essbase, SAP, Tableau and SQL) and the ability to adapt to new systems and applications quickly. Possess superior Excel skills including charting and ability to manipulate large volumes of data resulting from various sources into meaningful and dependable managerial information

- The right candidate will demonstrate strong ability to work with and influence others not within direct reporting relationship
- Effectively communicates with and engages all levels of the organization, verbally and in writing, with the ability to build effective partnerships across teams
