Position Summary
- As an IP Analyst in the IP Operations team, you will join a talented and collaborative group of in-house lawyers and legal professionals to enhance data integrity and IP tools, handle financial matters related to IP activity and support Open-Source Software matters to mitigate global risk and drive value
- This role will report to Director IP Strategy & Operations and will support the global business teams either remotely or locally
Roles & Responsibilities
- Participate in Open-Source Software Policy advice, compliance and training including OSS use, release, and contribution
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure Open-Source Software compliance in offer development
- Assist the identification of existing and new key revenue streams, key technologies, and their related roadmaps to proactively define appropriate IP protection strategies to be presented at Quarterly Business Reviews
- Collect data and run IP analysis to support Quarterly Business Reviews topic definition
- Define IP metrics/dashboards and portfolio taxonomies in cooperation with stakeholders and other IP Dept. initiatives
- Lead preparation of Quarterly Business Reviews with Business and Technology Leadership and IP Dept. functional leaders to assure protection of business initiatives and plans for commercialization of technology and IP acquisition
- Define data integrity strategies and assure implementation of those strategies
- Perform data analysis and assessments
- Lead IP tool selection (e.g., patent search engine) to drive IP Strategy development and implementation including tool exploration, evaluation and testing. Assist in the IP tool administration
- Support the definition of internal IP policies, and knowledge and support of government policies
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and leadership on driving community and government engagement and communications
- Assist IP integration of acquisitions by assessing IP Trust Standard compliance and data integration for IP assets
- Manage IP spending to meet defined budget targets
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams like M&A, Supply Chain management, Finance, and Tax on corporate initiatives
- Manage outside vendors and communications to leadership of status and recommendations
- Counsel stakeholders on standard setting organization strategy and matters staying up-to-date on trends and developments in the field

Qualifications
- Fluent in English, written and spoken.
- Relevant technical degree from an accredited university
- Strong knowledge of local and global IP laws and regulations, including patents, designs, copyright, and trade secrets
- Extensive experience of IP budget management and forecasting
- At least 2 years of relevant experience

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively using good judgement on when to escalate and include stakeholders
- Strong analytic and judgement proficiencies to identify and assess project risks and prioritize mitigation plans to meet timelines
- Ability to define creative and flexible solutions to support global project with a global team and balance risk, resources, and compliance
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferences
- Fluent in German, Spanish or French, both written and spoken
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as related to IP royalties (inbound and outbound) and capitalization
- Patent attorney or patent agent
- MBA or other business/financial professional education from a recognized university
- Experience with Acquisition Integrations
- Strong knowledge in open source / software
- Strong knowledge in Standards Setting Organization and Standards Essential Patents
