What you will be doing:
Provide individual and group counseling to students facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges, as well as those experiencing personal or family difficulties
Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' social and emotional needs, strengths, and areas for intervention
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to create and implement intervention strategies to improve students' social and emotional functioning
Support the implementation of behavior management plans and other interventions in the classroom and school environment
Work with students and families to address issues related to attendance, truancy, and home-school communication
Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans for students with special needs
Help identify and connect students and families with appropriate community resources, such as mental health services, housing assistance, and social service programs
Provide crisis intervention and support during emergencies or critical situations involving students or families
Promote social-emotional learning and character development initiatives within the school community
Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and collaborate with other school staff to address student needs holistically
Maintain accurate and confidential records of services provided and student progress
Keep up-to-date with current research and best practices in school social work and related fields
Collaborate with school staff and parents to create a safe and inclusive school climate that fosters positive relationships and academic success
What you will need:
Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program
Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Illinois
Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting is preferred
Strong understanding of social-emotional development and the impact of family dynamics on student well-being
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse populations, including students, parents, teachers, and community members
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines for professional practice
